Paradise turned out to be a major success for Hulu when it premiered earlier this year. The unprecedented response from the audience led to the post-apocalyptic thriller’s quick renewal for a second season.

Work on the upcoming chapter is now going on in full swing as the filming has already started. While the plot of the second season had been kept under wraps, lead actor Sterling K. Brown has now divulged certain details about what can be expected from the forthcoming episodes.

In an interview with Deadline, Brown revealed that Paradise Season 2 will explore what is outside of the massive city-sized bunker, which will lead to the collision of the two worlds. He said:

“The outside of the bunker gets explored, as well as what continues to happen inside the bunker with Xavier’s absence. There is a collision when the two worlds meet like: What has life been like outside? How has life changed inside? When those two worlds come into contact with one another, what kind of shamrocks and shenanigans can we get up to?”

During the conversation, Sterling K. Brown also gave a production update on Paradise Season 2 and disclosed that a major chunk of the filming has concluded:

“We’re block shooting Episodes 7 and 8 with Hanelle M. Culpepper [directing] right now. Very excited with what we have shot thus far.”

Brown added that they have already held a screening of Season 2, Episode 1 for the crew, and the response has turned out to be extremely positive. Since creator Dan Fogelman likes to screen his shows for the production team, episode 2 will also be showcased to the crew soon:

“We had a screening of Episode 1 for our crew, and we were all very, very, very, very, very happy. We’ll have a screening of Episode 2 next week, because Dan likes to show people the fruits of their labor as close to real time as possible, and it sort of inspires people to make it through the finish line.”

Paradise takes place in an underground bunker, which was supposedly built to protect the population from a nuclear attack. When the President of the country, Cal Bradford, is murdered under mysterious circumstances, Secret Service agent Xavier Collins gets into action to find out what happened to him.

As he investigates, some dark secrets about the bunker come out that change his perception of the world. Meanwhile, Samantha "Sinatra" Redmond, an elite woman, controls things from the background and wants the truth to remain hidden. At the end of the first season, Xavier decides to look out for his wife after realizing that she did not die during the attack.

Apart from Sterling K. Brown as Xavier Collins, the show stars Julianne Nicholson as Samantha "Sinatra" Redmond, Nicole Brydon Bloom as Agent Jane Driscoll, Sarah Shahi as Dr. Gabriela Torabi, Percy Daggs IV as James Collins, and Aliyah Mastin as Presley Collins. The premiere date of Paradise Season 2 remains to be announced.

Paradise Season 1 is available to stream on Hulu.
