Steven Knight will once again bring magic to the world of TV with a new Peaky Blinders sequel show
According to Tudum, both BBC and Netflix's creative teams have not only expressed their excitement about the upcoming Peaky Blinders project but also spoken highly of Steven Knight's creative genius.
Mona Qureshi, executive producer on behalf of Netflix, has mentioned in a statement saying:
"We couldn’t be more excited to be embarking on a new chapter of Peaky Blinders with our wonderful partners at Kudos, Garrison Drama and the BBC."
Qureshi further praised the British screenwriter and producer, saying that there are not many "modern storytellers" who can match the creative prowess of Knight. According to her statement to Tudum, the new Peaky Blinders sequel will offer a captivating new experience as "the next generation of the Shelby family" takes control over the business.
Lindsay Salt from BBC Drama also added that the upcoming sequel has a lot of drama to offer "for Peaky fans," as we will be taken back in time to a tumultuous post-World War II Britain. The future of a war-inflicted Birmingham (and its reconstruction) is to be decided by a dangerous conflict between regional powers, one of them being the Shelby family.
As already confirmed by multiple sources, Peaky Blinders lead Cillian Murphy (aka Thomas Shelby) will return to executive produce the upcoming sequel alongside Steven Knight. Among others in the creative team, we have:
- Karen Wilson
- Martin Haines on behalf of Kudos
- Jo McClellan on behalf of BBC
- Jamie Glazebrook on behalf of Garrison Drama
- Toby Bentley on behalf of Netflix
- Mona Qureshi on behalf of Netflix
Peaky Blinders had a successful run for almost a decade (2013-2022) with commendable RT scores and great audience response. The show's popularity not only lies in its accurate portrayal of a post-World War I Britain but also in its impeccable storytelling and direction, not to mention an ensemble cast. So, the upcoming spin-offs will definitely be two promising new entries in the long-running crime drama franchise.
