House of Guinness’ creator Steven Knight, who was also the mastermind behind Peaky Blinders, declared that there is enough story to go ahead with a second season of his new series. But he made one thing clear at the same time, that nothing has been established yet.

Knight clarified that the team is ready and has ideas in case Netflix wants to proceed. House of Guinness Season 1 ends with a huge cliffhanger, indicating that the creators have more adventures in mind.

As reported by ScreenRant and What's On Netflix, at this point, everything hinges on the performance of the series on Netflix. The viewership, within the U.S. as well as globally, Top 10 Charts, and high completion rates for the next few weeks and months, will decide the renewal status of the series. If the figures are favorable, the fans can expect to enjoy a bit more of the drama from the Guinness family.

What did Steven Knight actually say about a second season of House of Guinness?

The comments made by the showrunner of House of Guinness, Steven Knight, reflect his desire to continue and share the story, as well as how this decision is not exactly in his own hands. In a conversation with Joe Deckelmeier of ScreenRant, Knight elaborates on the potential of expanding the world within the series and how there's enough material at hand.

In a conversation with ScreenRant, Steven Knight stated:

In a perfect world, I’d like to take it on all the way into the 20th century. These things are not being announced, this is not decided. But if you look at even a cursory glance at the history of the Guinness family, they keep throwing up these dramas. They keep making these mistakes. They keep doing these wonderful things. So yeah, there’s enough material there to keep us going all the way.”

House of Guinness Season 1 ends on a note that nearly feels like the beginning of more drama and not the climax. That is significant since television studios favor programs that can develop organically. A continuation series is a better bet than one that must create a sequel out of thin air.

Still, despite all that preparation, a new season is not certain. Before giving the green light, Netflix will consider the figures: how many people watch the show, how it is doing internationally, and whether it is worth the high cost of production.

If renewed, where House of Guinness Season 2 could go

House of Guinness Season 2 might immediately pick up where the finale left off, if Netflix decides to proceed with it, following the outrageous assassination attempt, the wobbly alliances, and the family’s tangled political aspirations.

The first season left a chunk of business unfinished: a contested will, family members pitting against each other, and intentions of expanding the brewing business abroad. All this might result in unforeseen alliances, scandals in public, and power games that will extend not only to Ireland but also to cities like New York or London.

The writers might also pay more attention to the supporting characters, revealing their dark and complex sides, as the perfect image of the family begins to crumble. To the audience, it would be more interesting to engage with a second season of House of Guinness filled with more risks, more difficult decisions, and additional screen time for the entire cast.

Although the foundation for progress and growth has been laid within the narrative in the first season of House of Guinness, the decision to renew remains in the hands of Netflix.
