Here is a brief recap of Stick season 1 episode 5

youtube-cover

In episode 5 of Stick, titled 'The Birdie Machine,' Santi wins the tournament, while the entire team celebrates the victory. The celebration is interrupted by an emotional outburst when Mitts confronts Pryce and accuses him of using Santi to achieve what he couldn't with his son Jett. This upsets Pryce. On the other hand, when Pryce gets a leg injury, he sits down as a caddy, and Zero takes his position. Pryce gives the basic lessons of gold, while Zero sees the game as boring, which only appeals to the elites.

Santi is obsessed with winning. He reveals to Elena and Zero that he cannot imagine his life without being the top leader in the game, while Zero sees it as unnecessary pressure, too much to live with.

The team initially appears as dysfunctional in the show but eventually Santi, Zero and Elena bond with each other when Zero shares their queer gender identity. Zero reveals how their mother is unsupportive of the same, while surprisingly, Zero's father understands her choices. They also reveal their birth name, which is Christina Marie Duffy. The episode ends with Santi and Zero going camping and sharing a kiss.
