Squid Game Season 3, which is also the final season, recently premiered, and again, the show has found its way to the headlines for its interesting characters, themes, and the world it portrays.

The show tells the story of Gi-Hun, who remains an irresponsible man determined to make easy money. He ends up in the most brutal game taking place on an isolated island. The contestants are fighting for a whopping amount of money, only to realize that the game comes with its life-and-death consequences. If one gets eliminated from playing these games, they will be shot and killed. The contestants become greedy for each other's lives as the game progresses, with only one wish—to exit the game with the most money in their hands.

Amidst this is the creator and runner of the show, the Front Man, played Lee Byung-hun. Season 2 revealed that his real name is In-Ho, who was once a player. Season 3 of Squid Game also had a flashback about how he ended up winning the game once, and then took up the job as Front Man.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lee expressed strong interest in a Front Man spinoff or prequel,

"Just as the fans are curious to know more about him, I am too. That’s a story I’d be very willing to tell"

Lee Byung-hun is open to a possible Squid Game Front Man spinoff

In a recent interview with THR, Lee Byung-hun expressed how his character has struck a chord with the audience despite its bleak portrayal of humanity. He then added that it would be interesting to have a Front Man spin-off.

Squid Game Season 2 reveals that the Front Man was once a player, and his brother is actively looking for him. Season 3 also features a flashback where he is given the same opportunity to kill people in their sleep and walk out alone with the money. While Gi-Hun didn't do that, In-ho at the time killed all the players and became the winner.

In the interview, Lee He believes the Front Man and the recruiter have untapped potential, with murky backstories and unexplored depth.

"Director Hwang and I have been joking about a Front Man spin-off since the beginning. We both thought that the Front Man or the recruiter could be interesting for more story, because we haven’t really explored these characters in their entirety yet. Their backstory is still vague, and their character is still a little murky." Lee said THR.

Lee further said that he’d be more than willing to star in such a project, describing the Front Man as a compelling character he’s eager to explore, just like the fans.

"To look at the Front Man with a full character study would be a very fun thing to do. So, as for your question, of course I’d be willing to star in it. The character has already been built and designed, and I’m very compelled by him. Just as the fans are curious to know more about him, I am too. That’s a story I’d be very willing to tell."

There has been no official confirmation regarding the front-man spin-off yet.
