Eleven killed one at the end of the season, and it seemed like the kids had finally escaped the evils of the Upside Down. However, in Season 2, the Demogorgons return along with shadow monsters that connect Will to the hive mind. In Season 3, the Mind Flayer was the antagonist, who controlled Billy Hargrove and tormented the crew at Hawkins through him. While he was killed, the bad days were just beginning for Hawkins and its people. We now know that he is the one who kidnapped Will and then kidnapped other children in Season 5. There is a popular debate among fans regarding whether Vecna controls the Mind Flayer or it's the other way round, but we won't know until the finale. What we do know is that there aren't going to be any new monsters in Stranger Things Season 5.In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, when Matt Duffer was asked if the final season would introduce any new monsters, he said,"No, I don't think [so]. We talked about it, but a lot of this season is about returning to the prior seasons, and we didn't want to overstuff it with new creatures,"He continued,"So, as we worked on the season, we thought, 'Let's just have fun with what we've previously established."Season 5 will wrap up all the loose ends from previous seasons and answer questions they haven't yet. Thus, it looks like the creators wanted to focus on the evil that is already tormenting Hawkins and how much more deadly it can get. Ross Duffer said,"It's more like taking what we've done and then amping it up, like what [James] Cameron did from 'Alien' to 'Aliens'. That's how we see this season."
