Stranger Things season five, which will be the final season of the Netflix series, is set to be released in three parts, on 26th November, Christmas, and New Year's Eve 2025. As the cast and crew gear up for the release of the final season, fans are eager to see any hints or teasers about the upcoming season.
Back in the beginning of August 2025, Ross Duffer, one of the Duffer Brothers who are creators of the show, made a post on Instagram, sharing that the first two episodes, The Crawl and The Vanishing of... were
"...locked, mixed, scored, colored, DONE..."
Now, on 31st August, 2025, Ross Duffer has revealed interesting details about the third and fourth episodes of the final season, which have teased fans of an epic mid-season finale.
Ross Duffer shares a Stranger Things season 5 update
Tudum by Netflix had earlier revealed all the episode titles for Stranger Things season five, and thus, we know that there are going to be eight episodes in total. The first four episodes will be released on 26th November 2025, the next three on Christmas, and the finale on New Year's Eve.
As Ross Duffer recently shared on Instagram about episodes 3 and 4, The Turnbow Trap and Sorcerer,
Chapters Three and Four: locked, mixed, scored, colored... Volume One is DONE.
"The Turnbow Trap" is the most classic Stranger Things-y episode of the season. It's got all out favorite things. Directed by one of our idols Frank Darabont (Shawshak! Green Mile! Walking Dead!) - who literally came out of retirement for this. He crushes it, obviously.
"Socerer" is MASSIVE - as big as any finale we've ever done, and the most logistically insane shoot of our lives. We're still recovering.
The third episode, as Ross Duffer says, will have all the elements the show is known for. We might just see Vecna, Eleven, in a dangerous situation that is almost impossible to get out of, and all her friends, along with Joyce and Jim, working as a team to defeat Vecna. Episode four, Sorcerer, will be the mid-season finale, and fans will have to wait for almost a month before they can see the next episodes. As Ross Duffer said, we can expect an exciting mid-season finale, which will be hard to recover from, as it was for the creators.
Season five of Stranger Things will pick up after the events of season four. At the end of season four, we saw a rift appear between Hawkins and the Upside Down. It is not normal for another world to suddenly open up to ours, and thus, Hawkins is under military quarantine. Moreover, the one person who might just know how to destroy Vecna, Eleven, is forced into hiding because the government is looking for her.
While it is Vecna's doing that has opened up the Upside Down to Hawkins, he has disappeared. Season five will show us how Eleven and her loved ones will fight Vecna one last time to save Hawkins and the world by extension.
Season five of Stranger Things will be released in three parts: volume one on 26th November, volume two on Christmas, and volume three on New Year's Eve 2025. The first four seasons of Stranger Things are streaming on Netflix.
