Stranger Things' executive producer Shawn Levy has taken to social media to share some BTS images from one of the most discussed episodes from Season 4. Earlier this month, Levy shared some BTS images from some fun moments on set, including a group selfie.

The new set of images shared on X (formerly Twitter) captured two shots inside the set and a portrait of Victor Creel. Levy used the tag "Creel family history." Henry Creel, who turns into Vecna, becomes one of the most terrifying villains in modern TV shows, destabilizing the peace of the quiet Indiana town.

In the images, we see Victor Creel, one of the recurring characters seen in Season 4, played by Kevin L. Johnson in 1959 and Robert Englund in 1986. Following the brutal murder of his family in 1959, Victor was transported to Pennhurst Mental Hospital under a plea deal.

Though imprisoned for decades, he always maintained his innocence, claiming a demonic force was responsible for the murders. The black and white side portrait of the character instantly induces a dark, looming feeling, mirroring the darkness that surrounds Hawkins.

The BTS from Stranger Things' executive producer hints at how the show uses visual imagery to tell potent stories. According to how these photos look, the episode at hand is Dear Billy from Season 4, Episode 4.

Another stunning image from the BTS snaps is a window with stained glass, through which the sunlight enters. This image is both visually stunning and aesthetic.

One of the most emotionally appealing episodes of Season 4 was Dear Billy. This episode dealt with difficult themes like grief, trauma, and confronting the past. The episode slows the pace, mixed with stunning visuals (demonstrated in the BTS shots), making the episode a masterclass in supernatural storytelling.

Episode 4 of Stranger Things, titled Dear Billy, aired on Netflix on May 27, 2022, as part of Season 4 Volume 1 and was directed by Shawn Levy. The writing is by Paul Dichter. The episode features Natalia Dyer, Maya Hawke, and Robert Englund in key scenes that tie together Hawkins’ present-day mysteries and the lingering shadows of its past.

The cast of this episode of Stranger Things was Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Maya Hawke, and Robert Englund, who delivered some of their most brilliant acting efforts in this episode. Full cast included,

  • Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers
  • David Harbour as Jim Hopper
  • Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven / Jane Hopper
  • Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler
  • Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson
  • Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair
  • Noah Schnapp as Will Byers
  • Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield
  • Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler
  • Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers
  • Joe Keery as Steve Harrington
  • Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley
  • Brett Gelman as Murray Bauman
  • Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair

The compelling performances by these actors are reasons why critics often single out “Dear Billy” when discussing standout Stranger Things installments.

Stranger Things Season 5 is dropping another freshly baked installment of supernatural madness on 26 November 2025. This time stakes are likely to be very high, and character fates may not be as kindly tackled as one may think.
