There has been much speculation about the Stranger Things Season 5 episode runtimes. There were rumors circulating on the internet for a long while that the eight episodes would run from 90 minutes to 120 minutes per episode (1:30-2 hours). However, the Duffer brothers were quick to smash these rumors, confirming that the runtimes were nothing as such.

It wasn't until recently that the runtimes for the first four episodes, which make up the first volume of the concluding chapter, set to release on November 26, were revealed by the Duffer brothers.

The confirmed runtimes for the first volume were revealed to be

Episode 1 “The Crawl” Runtime 1 hour 8 minutes

Episode 2 “The Vanishing of …” Runtime 54 minutes

Episode 3 “The Turnbow Trap” Runtime 1 hour 6 minutes

Episode 4 “Sorcerer” Runtime 1 hour 23 minutes

The initial reveal, which lasts as long as an hour and 23 minutes for the fourth episode, was enough to send fans into a frenzy of craziness full of anticipation and excitement.

Now, to make things even crazier, in a recent conversation with Variety, the Duffer brothers have revealed that the season finale, well, the Stranger Things series finale titled "The Rightside Up," which is nothing less than a "blockbuster movie," will be almost two hours long.

It wasn't confirmed if the episode would be longer than the season 4 finale, which had a runtime of 2 hours and 22 minutes. However, considering this is the series finale and will be responsible for bringing together all the threads that have been created in the last decade of storytelling, such an assumption might not be too far off to make.

However long the runtime is, the creators have confirmed that they're not diving into a "CG slimefest, where you don't really care who's doing what and why." For them, keeping the final season grounded to everything that defines it, the core of innocence in a nightmarish world, came before anything else.

Volume 1, comprising the first four episodes, will be released on November 26, followed by Volume 2, comprising the next three episodes, on Christmas, and the series finale on New Year's. Stranger Things Season 5 is set to find us 18 months after the events of Season 4, where Vecna manages to crack open the Upside Down, and everybody is now in the same place, an apocalyptic Hawkins being eroded by the Upside Down and Vecna.
