Stranger Things Season 5 made sure to give us another death. Though this time, fans might not have been devastated, given it was a character that wasn't really loved. It was Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) sister, Kali, aka Eight, played by the Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen, who was shot by one of the military people in the grand finale.
However, there was another character that the creators could have easily killed off, which would've been perfect and satisfactory too. That was, sort of, a loose end for the show. It was Linda Hamilton's Dr. Kay who was adamant about keeping that horrible experiment going.
Every time she was on the screen, she made sure that there were pure evil vibes in the show. She was a bigger horror show than Henry Creel, aka Vecna, played by Jamie Campbell Bower. At least Henry was still a human deep inside. But this lady? Not a bit.

Dr. Kay wanted Brenner's experiment to be active in Stranger Things
Everything that's happening in the show was thanks to the experiment that Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine), aka Papa, started. He was the one who used Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower) to create other supernatural beings like him. And that is how Eleven's powers came to be.
Dr. Kay wanted Eleven to be her Henry Creel so she could create more like her using her blood. She was doing that to her sister, as we saw in the final season of the show. El and Hop (David Harbour) found her tied to a machine in a room while infiltrating Kay's lab in the Upside Down.
By the time they found her, Kay had almost drained Kali's blood. When she tells them what happened to El and Hop, we see some flashbacks of pregnant women being used to infuse her blood so the child born out of them has powers like hers.
She was certainly one badass, whom even Jack Sullivan (Sherman Augustus) and Robert Akers (Alex Breaux) feared. They both were working under her in Stranger Things. However, she didn't want Eleven dead, unlike these two.
Dr. Kay's expressions were more satisfactory
Even though Stranger Things could've easily killed Dr. Kay, it would've been satisfactory. Speaking of satisfactory, it actually became important because Kali died. Akers did shoot her, but it was the evil Kay who pulled that trigger.
Kali wasn't really a fan favorite character in Stranger Things, but in her final moments, she did have a change of heart, and it seemed like both of them were going to live a normal life. Maybe find a place with three waterfalls. Kay took that away.
However, watching Kay's expressions as Eleven vanished with the wormhole was more satisfactory. That's because she finally had the girl she was after, and when she found her, she lost her in front of her eyes. That was one supernatural middle finger from El to Kay.
Hope that Kali did save El.
