Netflix's popular sci-fi/horror series, Stranger Things, will be back on our screens with its fifth and final season on November 26, 2025. The series, which began with a group of teenagers fighting otherworldly creatures to save their friend and has now become more terrifying as the creatures of the Upside Down have begun to attack more people in the small town of Hawkins.

Since the story revolves around a group of teenagers, parents might question whether it is suitable for kids to watch. With a rating of TV-14, the show can be viewed by children aged 14 years and above. However, as the series progresses, the terrifying scares, gore, and violence also increase, which will require parental guidance for even teenagers aged 14-16 to be able to watch the show.

Stranger Things premiered in 2016 and has now become one of Netflix's biggest shows globally. The series began with Noah Schnapps' character Will's disappearance. With the arrival of Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven, Will's friends begin to search for their friend and discover the alternate universe that looks just like their world, but is horrifying and has monsters living in it.

The earlier seasons of Stranger Things can be viewed by children aged 14 and above. Although it has numerous scenes of violence and gore due to the monster called the demogorgon killing people, it might be terrifying for kids to watch. Furthermore, the depiction of brutal death is also another concern that will stop parents from letting their kids watch the sci-fi/horror series.

Other than violence and gore, Stranger Things also has scenes that are intense and frightening. Since it's a horror show, it is filled with terrifying jump scares, which makes it unsuitable for kids. For instance, in Season 2, Joe Keery's Steve Harrington fighting with demodogs, which appear suddenly and try to attack the kids, was among the scariest moments from Season 2, other than Joyce and Will being stuck at Hawkins Lab, which was infested with demodogs.

Additionally, there are some s*xual scenes, use of guns, and use of inappropriate language, making it another reason why kids cannot watch it alone. Furthermore, as the show progresses, it becomes more violent and gory, which might be terrifying for kids to watch. For instance, the previous season was filled with grisly deaths that were horrifying to watch.

With more kinds of creatures residing in the upside-down, the dangers to the lives of the teenagers have also increased. Therefore, the later seasons of Stranger Things should only be watched by children with parental guidance and not alone. This also applies to the upcoming season. Since it's the final battle against Vecna, the violence and gore would be heightened, deeming it more scary for the kids to watch.

Stranger Things stars Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, David Harbour, Joe Keery, Gaten Matarazzo, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Noah Schnapp, and Charlie Heaton, among others.
