Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 6 cast and characters: Here's who brought the Netflix series to life

Netflix's hit sci-fi horror drama, Stranger Things Season 5 dropped three episodes of Volume 2 on December 25, 2025.

Each volume consists of four episodes in total. Volume 1 dropped on November 26, leaving viewers eagerly waiting for almost a month. So when Volume 2 dropped, viewers were eager to find out what's next for Team Hawkins and will be able to end Vecna.

In Volume 1 of Stranger Things Season 5, a lot happens. Firstly, we roll a year forward from the events of the Season 4 finale. Hawkins is under a quarantine situation where the locals aren't allowed to leave. The gate to the Upside Down is under military supervision while Hooper does a routine check to find Vecna.

But when his latest crawl goes wrong, several Demogorgons kill soldiers and even attack Nancy's parents. They kidnap Holly, too. Holly had been getting visions of someone called Mr. Whatsit (turns out it's none other than Vecna). He locks her in his version of his childhood home, and it looks like Holly's having an absolute blast. But her happiness is short-lived when we meet Max, who reveals the truth to Holly and describes it as Vecna's prison.

Meanwhile, Will becomes the star of the season. He has been having visions throughout, but when he realizes that he can take control of the given mind, he uses this power to save his friends. Elsewhere, Eleven and Hooper break into the military camp to find Vecna, but instead, they find Kali.

Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 6 cast

Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers

Winona Ryder plays Joyce Byers, Jonathan and Will's mother, in Stranger Things Season 5. She's smart, brave, and protective about her children, especially after Will's disappearance. Through Season 5, we see her worrying about Will and asking him to stay away from the Crawl or Demogorgons. But when the time comes, she realises that she can't keep Will protected, in the closing scenes of Episode 4, Joyce witnesses Will's newly found powers as he controls the Demogorgons and saves lives. Her moments with Hooper are sweet and refreshing.

David Harbour as Jim Hooper

David Harbour plays the role of Jim Hooper, the (former) Hawkins chief of police, who gets involved in the events from the beginning since Will's disappearance. He helps to investigate the strange occurrences in the town. Initially, he might appear as someone tough, but deep down, he's lonely, still trying to get over her daughter's death. He develops a father-like bond with Eleven, and he's highly protective of her. In Season 5, we see a determined Hooper who organizes crawls to find Vecna. At the end of Volume 1, it's Eleven and he who finds Kali in the military base.

Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven

Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) spends most of the episode trying to control the fallout caused by the destabilization of the Upside Down. She works closely with Hooper and Kali to escape before the wormhole collapses. In this episode, she also learns about her connection to Henry Creel.

Noah Schnapp as Will Byers

Noah Schnapp plays Will Byers, Joyce's youngest son, who remains a pivotal character of the series. In this episode, Will is again captured by Vecna and used as a mental link. Vecna searches for Will's memories to locate Max's body in real life. Eventually, El finds Will inside Camaztoz and frees him. Once awake, Will warns that Vecna is sending Demodogs to the hospital.

Sadie Sink as Max

In this episode, we learn that Max remains trapped inside Henry's mind prison along with Holly. She is in a coma in the real world and vulnerable to attack. Inside Camaztoz, Henry's mind, Max continues searching for an exit with Holly. She no longer tries to escape through force or memories alone. Instead, she follows logic.

Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler

Natalia plays Nancy, Mike, and Holly's older sibling in Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 6. In this episode, she gets trapped inside the Upside Down after shooting the exotic matter. The environment around them begins to melt.

With no clear escape, Nancy and her partner, Jonathan, talk about their relationship. The episode allows Nancy to be direct and honest, even when the truth hurts.

Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers

Charlie Heaton plays Jonathan Byers, Will's older, responsible brother in Stranger Things Season 5. In this episode, when Nancy and Jonathan find themselves in a life-threatening situation, they confess to their true feelings. Jonathan tells how he thought he would propose to Nancy for marriage, but he realized that marriage would not solve their differences. He unproposes to Nancy, and it looks like it's the end of their relationship.

Nell Fisher as Holly

Nell Fisher plays Holly in Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 6. She's still trapped in Camaztoz with Max. She believes that Henry's traumatic memories can lead to an exit. Her theories prove correct.

Holly identifies a tunnel connected to Henry's past experiences. This discovery gives Max and Holly a way out of the mind prison.

Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin

He is central to the episode. He finds out information via Dr. Brenner's records that says Upside Down is a wormhole connecting Earth to a different dimension. He further tells that an exotic matter keeps the wormhole stable. Once that matter is damaged, the entire structure begins to collapse.
