After Mr. Whatsit revealed his plan of world domination by merging the real world with Vecna's The Abyss, Holly realized that the time was running out. While Derek created a distraction, Holly and Max managed to jump through the former's memories to reach the exit. After traveling through a bunch of memories, the duo finally landed on that fateful memory where the Demogorgons attacked Karen and took Holly into the dreamscape. While Holly and Max were about to escape, Vecna took hold of them, but was defeated after Will tapped into his hive mind.Left with no choice, Holly and Max retreated to the caves in Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 6, until the former made a startling discovery that the shape of Henry's spyglass matched exactly with the entrance of the caves. Holly used this information to find a hole in the ground that led them to the underground tunnels in the desert. The tunnels further led them to one of Henry Creel's most traumatic memories, where they saw a young Henry get shot by a scientist with a briefcase. After much encouragement from Max, the duo leaps through different portals, but only one of them makes it to the real world: Max.Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 6 saw Max finally wake up from her comatose state in the hospital, an emotional moment for Lucas. While Max was finally back in her real body and free from Vecna's trance, Holly found herself in The Abyss, bound to Vecna's pain tree. She frees herself, discovers a gate to the Upside Down, and leaps through the portal while Vecna is about to catch her.
