The first shot takes us right back to the scene of the crime in the first volume, but the Will who was brimming with powers at the end of the first volume is now breaking down and convinced that they've failed, and it is all over:

"We failed. We never stood a chance."

Joyce, on the other hand, is convinced that they still have a chance, and it is not over till it is over:

"This is not over. Not by a long shot."

Another visual finds Holly and Max together in Vecna's mindscape, appearing to be looking into a tunnel with a ladder. Max has a plan of her own to help Holly and herself survive Vecna. Another new player added to the Hawkins gang is Kali, Eleven's sister, whom Eleven asks to help her find and kill Number One, aka Vecna.

Fueling the Steve Harrington is going to die fire, the Stranger Things Season 5 Vol 2 teaser finds Dustin and Steve reunited and promising to live or die together. In another visual, the two of them are shocked to discover an actual red storm of powers brewing. They say to each other:

"You die, I die."

Murray, the Santa, is back in action as he drives his truck inside the Military quarters yet again, while Nancy gets up in the hood and machine guns the whole place down as they try to enter. Storming inside was supposed to be the easy part, Robin exclaims, but here nothing is as simple or easy as it looks.

None of Hawkins is safe as a Demogorgon appears to be stalking the halls of the hospital, bringing the visuals of Lucas protecting a comatose Max's body back to mind.

All of this to say, the secrets of Upside Down are anything but clear, and the danger is more imminent than ever. The only way out is together, as Mike says:

"I don't know what's on the other side of any of this. If we wanna stand a chance of surviving, we need to be a team."

Only time will tell if even that will be enough for all of Hawkins and Vecna's attempts to redefine the world and its reality:

"It is time for a new world."

Stranger Things Season 5 Vol 2 releases on December 25, 2025, at 5 p.m. ET with three brand-new episodes.
