As Stranger Things Season 5 prepares to close the door on Hawkins (and the Upside Down) for the final time, Volume 2 arrives with more than just high-stakes battles and emotional goodbyes. It brings a soundtrack that once again proves how vital music is to the DNA of the Netflix sci-fi phenomenon.

Since its debut, the Duffer Brothers’ series has used carefully curated songs not merely as noise but as a clever device that defines eras and deepens character arcs. From resurrecting forgotten ’80s hits to pairing heavy scores with supernatural dread, Stranger Things has consistently set the gold standard for music-driven television.

Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 marks the final chapter of the saga (before the series' finale) and the music selection reflects that sense of culmination. As the Hawkins gang prepared for their final battle against Vecna, staple artists like Kate Bush returned to assist, along with some new 80s gems who will certainly take over pop culture by storm, like the previous seasons.

Here is a complete list of the music in the Netflix sci-fi drama's final chapter (Episodes 5-7).

Like the previous seasons, music played an important role in Stranger Things Season 5. While Max's favorite artist, Kate Bush, returned in Episode 7, newcomers like Diana Ross' Upside Down stole the show.

As Bush's Running Up That Hill continues to enjoy the recent spotlight, thanks to Max's amazing choice in music, Ross' Upside Down (featured in the first episode of Season 5) saw a 510% jump in overall global streams. A whole new generation of music lovers has discovered these classic artists, whose music defined the 80s era. Diana Ross' song recorded a 1,250% increase in global streams from Gen Z listeners, proving Stranger Things Season 5 (again) helped bridge the gap between the new audience and these 80s hits.

The Stranger Things Season 4 premiere established Kate Bush's “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)” as the song that grounds Max to reality. After almost falling prey to Vecna's trance, Lucas and the gang used the song to bring her back to reality, paving the way for Kate Bush to top the charts (and our hearts) again. After the Season 4 premiere, Bush's classic song saw an 8,700% increase in Spotify streams globally and a 9,900% surge in streams in the U.S.

The song returned in Stranger Things Season 5, when Lucas used it to revive Max after she fell into a comatose state. Thanks to Lucas' love and Bush's tunes, our favorite redhead finally managed to find a portal back to reality from the Upside Down and woke up in the final moments of Episode 6, reuniting with her boyfriend and the gang. This proves that music is not just decorative noise in the Duffer Brothers' sci-fi saga but an important plot device that enhances storytelling and enriches the sensory experience for the audience.
