Fan anticipation for Stranger Things Season 5 was heightened after Netflix unveiled its trailer and release date at the Tudum 2025 event.

Created by the Duffer Brothers, Season 5 will mark the conclusion of the breakthrough science fiction series, which premiered in 2016. It follows three teenagers on a quest to find their missing friend until they meet Eleven, a mysterious girl with superpowers.

While there is still time for Stranger Things Season 5, you can enjoy these similar titles on Netflix.

5 Netflix shows to watch while you wait for Stranger Things Season 5

1) The Umbrella Academy

If protagonists with superpowers named after numbers are your thing, The Umbrella Academy is perfect for you. While Stranger Things only has Eleven, this 2019 Netflix series follows seven children (named from One to Seven), who were simultaneously and mysteriously born to different mothers.

Adopted by eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves, the siblings are turned into superheroes and they band together to save the world from a global apocalypse after their adoptive father's mysterious death.

2) Mortel

While the Stranger Things' kids were unintentionally entangled in the Upside Down's mystery, the kids in Mortel choose their fate.

The French supernatural TV series follows two teenagers who make a pact with the voodoo god Obé to grant them superpowers to solve a murder case. While Sofiane is granted the ability to manipulate people's actions, Victor is given the ability to read people's minds.

However, after things take a dark turn, they enlist the help of Luisa to break Obé's spell on them and banish him from the world.

3) Dark

This twisted German language series, which became a breakthrough hit on Netflix, is quite similar to Stranger Things. Will's disappearance sets the events in motion in Hawkins. Mikkel Nielsen goes missing in the German town of Winden, opening a time travel wormhole in Dark.

The series follows many themes similar to the Duffer Brothers production and is the perfect show to binge while you wait for Season 5.

The opening of the time travel loop begins a repeated cycle and the protagonist (Jonas) is tasked with making difficult choices to save his family's past, present and future.

4) Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities

If the eerie vibe and tone of Stranger Things is your thing, you will surely like Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities. It is an anthology series containing eight chilling tales of horror and mystery.

Inspired by Rod Serling's Night Gallery, Toro's anthology series also features unique tales of horror, featuring monsters and all sorts of otherworldly creatures. The series will always keep you on the edge and the horror tales will delight you as much as Hawkin's mystery.

5) The OA

After watching this 2016 Netflix mystery series, you will be convinced that Stranger Things' Eleven is not the only psychic girl in town. The OA follows Prairie Johnson, a young and blind woman, who went missing. However, she suddenly reappears after seven years and is now able to see.

The mystery of her reappearance continues as she dons eerie scars on her back and claims to be one of the Original Angels, who can open other dimensions.

Prairie's similarities with Eleven don't end here and as the show progresses, it explores more themes of science fiction and the supernatural, just like Hawkins' tale.

Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1 will premiere on November 26, 2025.
