Stranger Things is all set to end its culturally redefining run by the end of the year, and as fans await the final adventure, Finn Wolfhard has lined up an exciting new project. The young actor is set to co-write a screenplay with his dad, Eric Wolfhard, on the '80s band The Replacements.
The screenplay is set to be based on Bob Mehr's biography, Trouble Boys: The True Story of the Replacements. The biography follows the life of the punk band, which completely defined the alternative rock genre of music in the United States, effectively paving the way for revolutionary bands such as Nirvana and Green Day.
Here's everything we know about the upcoming project.
Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard set to co-write the screenplay for a biopic on The Replacements
Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler on Stranger Things, is well known for his love of music. Wolfhard's love for indie rock and alternative rock is not hidden and can be heard as an influence in his own albums, especially Happy Birthday (which he is now on tour for).

The Stranger Things actor is reportedly set to take all of his experience of playing a young boy in the '80s, pair it with his love for music, especially indie rock and alternative rock, and join his father, Eric Wolfhard, in penning down a screenplay on the '80s band The Replacements.
The Replacements were an '80s American rock band, initially made up of guitarist and vocalist Paul Westerberg, bass guitarist Tommy Stinson, drummer Chris Mars, and guitarist Bob Stinson. The band was more often than not completely surrounded by drama and controversy and was even banned from Saturday Night Live owing to a particularly profanity-laden performance in 1986.
The upcoming screenplay is set to be based on Bob Mehr's book on the band, Trouble Boys: The True Story of the Replacements. The book is said to be an incredibly hilarious and heartbreaking read by the seasoned music critic and Grammy-winning essayist, so hopefully the screenplay will reflect that. The screenplay is set to be produced by Rich Peete, who also collaborated with the actor on The Legend of Ochi.
When talking about the project before the announcement, the Stranger Things actor commented:
"I’ve been writing a lot of music and writing this movie with my dad, which has been really amazing. It’s about a band that I think weirdly I have a lot in common with, a lot of the members. I can’t really talk about the actual band because I don’t have the rights officially yet."

While this is the first project that the Stranger Things actor has undertaken with his father, it is not actually his first time behind the scenes. Wolfhard previously co-wrote, co-produced, and co-directed a horror film with Billy Bryk, titled Hell of a Summer.
The Replacements biopic is all of Wolfhard's passion put together into a co-writing project with his father. The project is still in its early stages, so it'll be some time before it makes it to our screens, but until then, we can look forward to the Stranger Things actor's final appearance as Mike Wheeler.
