As Stranger Things Season 5 got closer, The Daily Mail had reported on November 1, 2025, that Millie Bobby Brown had filed a complaint against her co-star David Harbour, accusing him of bullying and harassment on set before the filming for Season 5 began. Neither the actors nor Netflix had commented on the alleged complaint.

A few days later, on November 6, at the Stranger Things Season 5 World Premiere in Los Angeles, California, Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour were seen to greet each other lovingly and pose for pictures together. While that doesn't confirm that no complaint was filed, it indicates that there is likely no issue between the costars.

Truth about the alleged complaint Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown filed against costar David Harbour

Netflix, Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour have not yet confirmed or denied whether the report by The Daily Mail was based on truth, but certain actions have hinted that either the report was based on false news or the issue has been resolved.

At the Stranger Things Season 5 World Premiere on November 6, Netflix and Stranger Things' Instagram account posted a reel of Brown and Harbour arriving together and greeting each other lovingly and hugging. It looked like the most natural greeting, and the smiles seemed genuine, which made many fans feel that rumours were false.

At the premiere, Brown spoke to Entertainment Tonight about her dynamic with Harbour, saying:

“Obviously had a really special bond with David because we have a father-daughter relationship, and we do every scene together… It’s been so special to have him along the journey for me.”

When Entertainment Tonight asked Harbour about Brown, he also only had positive things to say about her. He said:

“I adore her, and I’ve been proud to watch all of them grow up and become such great artists… this particular project is so special, and we’ve gotten to know each other so deeply.”

Besides, Netflix put forward the image of the cast standing strong for the final season, and as Variety reported, some internal sources say that David Harbour wasn't initially supposed to be present for many of the press tour events for the final season, as he is busy filming his upcoming projects DTF St. Louis and Avengers: Doomsday. But surprisingly, Harbour was present at the World Premiere and posed for pictures.

As PR exports told Variety, Netflix made sure the event and the pictures looked a certain way so that it would take the focus away from the Daily Mail report. As Variety reported, a PR executive said:

“The goal in these situations is to make it no worse.”

Variety has also reported that inside sources have confirmed that Brown did file a complaint against Harbour, but the issue was resolved. They have played adoptive father and daughter, Jim and Eleven, on the show and will be reprising their roles for Stranger Things Season 5. Thus, the issue has reportedly been resolved and the two have shared quite some scenes in the final season.

When The Hollywood Reporter asked creators The Duffer Brothers and director and executive producer Shawn Levy about the Daily Mail report and the rumours, Levy said:

“I’ve read a bunch of stories and they range from wildly inaccurate to… there’s so much noise around it, but the truth is that we view this crew and this cast as family, and so we treat each other with respect, and that’s always been bedrock.”

On the other hand, Ross Duffer said:

"We’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”

Thus, at the end of the day, the cast and even the crew have chosen to prioritise the final season of Stranger Things and have done their best to make sure all issues are resolved promptly. Netflix has ensured that the cast looks united to make sure nothing or no one distracts the audience from the final season.

Stranger Things Season 5 volume one will premiere on Netflix on November 26, 2025, and volumes two and three will be released on Christmas and New Year's Eve, respectively.
