After a controversial scene that rocked the reality TV industry, Lisa Hochstein, star of The Real Housewives of Miami, is voicing her opinion on what she refers to as "manipulated editing."

The story revolves around an apparently harmless event during Jody Glidden's birthday party, when cameras caught them entering his bedroom to take a shot and use the air conditioning to escape the Florida heat.

"The AC is good in here," Jody said while still wearing his microphone.

After her well-publicized divorce from plastic surgeon Lenny Hochstein, the 41-year-old reality star has been adjusting to life. Now, she had to explain her relationship with Glidden as well as the veracity of what viewers witnessed on TV.

“Our friends did not want to be filmed, so they sought out privacy in our hangout spot. Any implication beyond that reality is completely false and upsetting. And for the record: AC = Air Conditioning - something essential in Miami!,” Lisa said.

Hochstein's outspoken response represents a rare case of a housewife directly questioning the network's narrative choices, underscoring the continuous conflict between reality TV stars and production teams over editorial control. Both fans and cast members have expressed disagreement over the matter, with many wondering if the way the private moments were portrayed in the editing went too far.

Lisa defends Jody after shocking rumors take center stage after The Real Housewives of Miami Season 7 episode 1 aired

Social media swiftly turned what The Real Housewives of Miami viewers saw as an innocent moment at Jody Glidden's birthday celebration into something bad, sparking the controversy. Viewers were instantly drawn to what appeared to be a simple diversion from the stifling heat in Miami and started making assumptions about the deeper undertones of the informal conversation.

“We’re going for a shot and some AC,” Jody said to one of his friends. "Where is the air conditioner?" the friend asked.

Jody told him that the AC was in his room and asked whether he wanted to join him.

The rumors became so widespread that Lisa felt obliged to respond to them directly on social media, launching a thorough defense of her partner and the truth about what happened. She was annoyed by the story that had gained traction and wrote in the comments section,

“I can’t believe I have to address such ridiculous rumors, but last night’s The Real Housewives of Miami episode was a gross misrepresentation of what actually happened.”

Lisa gave The Real Housewives of Miami viewers thorough background information about the evening, clarifying that the group's retreat was not the secretive gathering they had envisioned.

“Jody and our non-cast friends were hanging out in our primary suite and lounge area which we use as a common space with friends and family - they were not crowded in some solitary bathroom,” she explained.

Her narrative portrayed friends not participating in any dubious activities, but merely looking for solace in familiar surroundings. She further explained that Jody's friends didn't want to be on camera once the drama started.

Explaining the need to resort to another to be in the air conditioner, she said that although the house had central cooling, production had the doors open most of the night with the lights and the equipment, which is why the house got "hot in the Miami heat."

The Real Housewives of Miami star further explained, emphasizing the legitimate need for cooler temperatures during the chaotic filming process. She went on to discuss the practical justifications for their relocation, pointing out the difficult shooting circumstances that necessitated air conditioning.
