Superfakes is the latest crime drama to make its way to Peacock. This one already has people buzzing. The series pairs Lucy Liu with writer and showrunner Alice Ju, backed by powerhouse studio A24.

So, what's it about? Well, the show tells the story of a Chinatown false dealer who makes her way into the black market world to build a better life for herself and her family. With Liu leading the drama, this show promises intensity and storytelling.

When you hear the words "Lucy Liu" and "crime drama" in the same sentence, you know something exciting is coming. In Superfakes, Liu will be playing a small-time Chinatown luxury fake dealer who gets caught up in an underground operation, which is something that she never planned on doing. The stakes? The future and safety of her family.

To add on to this, Liu isn't just playing the lead role but she's also on board as an executive producer. Her career has been packed with iconic titles like Kill Bill, Charlie's Angels, and Presence. Altogether, her films have earned more than $3.7 billion worldwide.

She recently also opened up about how exciting it is to be part of work that fuses entertainment with cultural weight. At the Locarno Film Festival, where she was honored with a Career Achievement Award, Liu said that she continues to be drawn to projects that bring "something meaningful and layered" to the screen.

Superfakes seems to fit that role perfectly, giving her another chance with a complex role while having a hand in the series behind the scenes.

Alice Ju’s vision meets the A24 style

Of course, Superfakes would not be possible without Alice Ju. She's the creative writer behind the story and is no stranger to creating standout television projects. Ju's previous work includes titles like Poker Face and Beef, both of which have been praised for their writing and unforgettable characters.

Now, she steps into the spotlight as creator, writer, and showrunner for this Peacock original crime drama. Ju explained in an earlier conversation with industry press that her drive to tell stories often comes from

"Exploring the hidden corners of identity, power, and survival."

That lens makes her a perfect fit for Superfakes, where a fake dealer's personal struggles tie directly into a world of crime and cultural clashes.

Josh and Benny Safdie, the minds behind The Curse, are serving as executive producers along with Ronald Bronstein, Eli Bush, Howard Klein, Olivia Gerke, and Lucy Liu. With A24 and Universal Studio Group's UCP handling production, there's no doubt the series will carry that distinctive edge that fans are excited about.

Superfakes is a collaboration between some of the strongest voices seen on TV and film right now. With Alice Ju being the creative writer behind the project and Lucy Liu leading the show, the Peacock series is positioned to hit hard when it lands on the streaming service.

Add A24's signature touch, and you have a drama that feels unpredictable and urgent. For fans looking for something interesting that keeps you glued to your screens, then Superfakes might just be the one to watch.
