In the April 30 episode of Survivor Season 48, the game took a sharp turn as David was blindsided at Tribal Council, and Mary sought to recover from the fallout of losing a key ally. The episode also featured Star Toomey delivering two memorable raps, adding humor to this gameplay-heavy installment.

Despite her creative outbursts, Star was voted out in a blindside, with the votes unexpectedly shifting to her rather than the initially targeted players, Joe or Eva. Meanwhile, the episode kept viewers on edge with its usual mix of misdirection, strong individual performances, and strategic shifts that set the stage for the next phase of the competition.

What happened in the Survivor episode?

Survivor Season 48 Episode 10 aired on May 1, continuing the post-merge chaos that has defined this installment. Star Toomey was the central figure of the episode, performing two original raps — "My Enemies Are Plottin'" during Tribal Council and "It's Time to Go" as her torch was snuffed.

The musical performances introduced an unexpected twist to the otherwise strategic hour. Despite her energy, Star was eliminated, leaving her alliance in turmoil. Editors framed the vote to suggest that Joe or Eva would be the likely targets, especially after both delivered overconfident confessionals, a common precursor to being blindsided in Survivor.

Instead, Star was voted out in a move that surprised many viewers. Her torch was snuffed after an unsuccessful attempt to realign with Kamilla, Mary, and Mitch.

Mailman Mitch once again served as comic relief. He told a story about being chased by a pit bull and reenacted his fall in the sand, adding humor to the episode. His loud snoring frustrated other castaways, particularly Star.

This episode of Survivor also brought back a classic reward challenge: the snake crawl through sand while dragging a buoy with their mouth. Jeff Probst heightened the awkwardness by leading the cast in a chant for "fried chicken and waffles," a moment that stood out for its absurdity.

Kyle won the challenge and selected Eva, Kamilla, and Shauhin to join him for the reward. Kyle's decision to align with Kamilla in targeting Joe, despite Joe's earlier offer to take him to the final four, demonstrated a deeper level of strategic nuance.

Later in Survivor, during the immunity challenge — the classic block-stacking contest requiring players to spell "immunity" while balancing on a narrow beam — Joe emerged victorious. This marked his third individual immunity win, solidifying his threat level in the game.

Probst attempted to tempt players with rice in exchange for sitting out, but none of the remaining seven players accepted the offer, showcasing the high stakes as the season nears its conclusion. Following the challenge, tension rose as Mary tried to recover from the loss of her ride-or-die, David, who had been blindsided in the previous Tribal Council.

Mary floated the idea of an alliance with Kamilla, Star, and Mitch—a group they tentatively named "the Revolution." However, Mitch ultimately betrayed Star by warning Shauhin that Star was targeting him. Kamilla, sensing the instability of the alliance, flipped back to her previous allies.

As a result, the vote came down to Mary or Star. Mary had raised suspicion earlier by calling out David at Tribal Council, but Star's gameplay and lack of strong connections made her a bigger target.

Mary now faces the challenge of rebuilding alliances without David and without Star, who had been one of her few remaining options. Her path forward in Survivor depends on convincing players like Kamilla, Kyle, and Shauhin that she still has value in their plans.

Survivor airs every Wednesday at 8 pm EST on CBS.
