Survivor Season 49 introduced 18 participants who were then divided into three tribes. There was an immunity challenge that would guarantee safety to the winning tribe. For that, participants had to go through muddy ropes while searching for oversized snakes. Each of them would be of a different size.

For the task, three participants had to navigate a ball via the snake-shaped trap. The first two teams to finish the task would win their camp supplies. On the other hand, the losing team would lose their fire-making flint and would be sent to the tribal council for elimination.

Hina tribe performed quite well in the first half of the challenge. Soon, fans witnessed Nate and Savannah overtaking Jeremiah and Nicole during the task.

Later, when Jeremiah and Nicole faced some difficulties, show host Jeff Probst told them:

"If you want a picnic, go to a park."

While Nicole was about to advance, she got into an argument with Annie over communication. As a result, the Hina tribe won the challenge while the Uli tribe finished second.

After returning to their camps, the Kele tribe's Jake was looking forward to eliminating whoever was a weak player. He planned on targeting Nicole, as Annie could be a potentially stronger player in the upcoming tasks. However, Survivor's Nicole was unaware of this.

At the Tribal Council, Nicole felt blindsided when Jake was asked about her. He said that she worked hard and gave her best. Soon, the voting results revealed five votes against Nicole and one against Annie. Witnessing the majority of her tribe members voting to eliminate her, Nicole was blindsided.

Survivor star Nicole was left stunned by the voting results. She confessed that it was a shock and that she had been lied to. She also referred to the situation as "true blindside," and her parting words were:

"They got me. That was a true blindside, so 'numbers don't lie, but people do' is absolutely true. I felt like I was on the right side of the numbers, and with the majority, but they were good liars. They kicked it into high gear, and I just completely missed it."

Survivor Season 49's first episode ended with one cast member going home. As for the upcoming episode, viewers saw a glimpse of what to expect. This included Jawan getting himself into a situation with the Uli tribe, while Sophi referred to Annie as a "Karen."
