As the penultimate episode of his latest crime thriller series, creator Brad Inglesby went full out in Task Episode 6, titled 'Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a river'. The episode made some bold choices and killed two of the show's most beloved characters, which will lead to an intense and emotional final outing.
The latest episode began where we left off in the previous episode, the three-way confrontation between Tom's team, Robbie, and the Dark Hearts. This confrontation quickly escalated into violence, where characters were shot at, stabbed and brutally killed.
Kathleen ended up in the hospital, following a brutal shot to her shoulder. The penultimate episode also revealed that it was Anthony who was leaking confidential information to Jayson, a secret that will have large implications in the Task finale next week.

Task Episode 6 killed its Robin Hood
The three-way confrontation between Robbie, Tom's Task Force, and the Dark Hearts ended up in a cabin, where Tom was brawling with Perry and Jayson was chasing Robbie and his duffle bag full of dr*g money. We leave Tom and Perry in the cabin and follow Robbie, who chases Jayson away from this action.
While Robbie throws the duffle bag in a river running nearby, he gets down with Jayson on the ground. The two men were at it and Robbie clearly had the upper hand in this fist fight. While Robbie had Jayson in a chokehold, his body suddenly went lifeless and we learn that Jayson had stabbed him in the stomach.
While it looked like Robbie would finally avenge his brother's death in Task Episode 6, Jayson brutally stabbed him. He would have continued stabbing the Robin Hood of Delco County if Tom had not intervened. Even though Tom helped Robbie to a car, he died in his arms. Robbie's final moments were marked by beautiful memories of his two children and his niece, with a voiceover of the dragon story about him and his brother, Billy.
Tom's Task Force bid farewell to one of its own in Episode 6
While Tom and Robbie were fighting off the Dark Hearts in the cabin in Episode 6, the task force was fighting against the gangsters. To prove his status as a Dark Hearts' ally, Anthony accidentally shoots too close to Elizabeth's ear, ensuring that Jayson and Perry confiscate Robbie's money.
Lizzie hears Aleah's call on the radio and proceeds to the medical supplies on the bridge for an injured Kathleen. Just when Lizzie was about to get to Kathleen, Jayson accidentally rammed his truck into her in his quest to escape.
While Aleah shot Jayson's truck, both Jayson and Perry managed to escape, leaving Lizzie's lifeless body on the bridge. Anthony felt guilty and blamed himself for Lizzie's death.
Task Episode 6 teased Tom's new mission
With Lizzie's death, Special Agent Dale and Agent Marcus announce that the Task Force is officially shutting down. Additionally, all the members will also be subjected to an internal investigation in relation to an agent's death. While Aleah is already devastated by Lizzie's death, the dissolution of her team pisses her off even further.
Elsewhere, Anthony contemplates coming clean about his affiliations with the Dark Hearts but his mentor, Mike, advises him against it. He reveals that Anthony has a special meeting with the FBI Internal Affairs about his connection to the Dark Hearts and he should keep his head straight. Thanks to Tom's visit to Kathleen in the hospital, he learns about Anthony's history with the Dark Hearts and how he was tipping them off about the impending dr*g search warrants.
The final moments of Task Episode 6 ended with Tom paying a visit to Anthony and practically accusing him of being the mole in the team. While Tom believed that Anthony might accept his mistake, he gave a whole sermon about forgetting and forgiving.
Tom left Anthony's house, warning him that he would come after him. After Tom's heated exchange with Anthony, Aleah visits him and complains that Dale and Marcus have taken her gun and badge away. Tom promises to talk about it, but first, they have to prove that Anthony is the mole.
While Task Episode 6 tragically ended Robbie's character arc, he had the last laugh and ensured his children's safety even in death. The final moments of the episode saw Jayson and Perry sneaking at night to find Robbie's duffle bag (and his cash) in the river.
However, they discover a bunch of brochures about the private island in Canada, in the bag, a cheeky gift from Robbie from the afterlife. We learn that Robbie had already struck a deal with Shelley, who gave a bag full of cash from the sale of fentanyl to Maeve, left by Robbie for her and his children.
