Tastefully Yours Episode 1-2 recap: Yeon-joo and Beom-woo meet but with overpowering chaos

The first two episodes of Tastefully Yours premiered on May 12 and 13, 2025 and the protagonists Yeon-joo and Beom-woo have already crossed paths. While neither the meeting nor their eventual partnership has been a smooth ride, their chaotic journey in the first two episodes was nothing short of delicious.

Beom-woo is introduced as an heir to the conglomerate, Hansang Group, and the owner of the restaurant Motto. He is an arrogant person and is not a decent boss either. Moreover, he shows no hesitation in stealing others’ recipes if that means more popularity for his restaurant.

On the other hand, Yeon-joo features a quite different personality than this. Her restaurant’s name is Jungjae and she is clearly dedicated to the art of cooking and takes her craft very seriously.

Let us now explore what happened in Tastefully Yours episodes 1 and 2 as the two protagonists meet and eventually decide to work together.

Beom-woo and Yeon-joo meet in Tastefully Yours Episode 1

Beom-woo and Yeon-joo’s meeting happens in Tastefully Yours Episode 1 as the former goes in search of a particular dish that he comes to know of being prepared at Yeon-joo’s restaurant, Jungjae. He goes on to search for this dish because one of his employees at his own restaurant Motto brought it to his attention that a dish they make is similar to the one being made at Jungjae.

As he finally reaches Jungjae, he finds Yeon-joo at the garden, picking cabbages. He then talks about why he is there and also ensures that everything that is needed for the dish is at the disposal of Yeon-joo. When the dish is done, Beom-woo tries it and realizes that it is completely different from what they make at Motto.

However, he is impressed and asks Yeon-joo if she is interested in selling her restaurant to him. Yeon-joo refuses though she is asked for rent in the same episode and does not know how to pay it. Things do not go particularly well for Beom-woo as he gets terminated as the director.

Beom-woo and Yeon-joo get into a partnership in Tastefully Yours Episode 2

Tastefully Yours Episode 2 offers a flashback sequence, explaining how Yeon-joo’s restaurant has come to be. In the present day, as she is struggling with rent, she agrees to give Beom-woo’s plan a shot, however, on the condition that he will be working with her in the kitchen and she will decide whether they can work together or not.

Beom-woo agrees and they decide to do this experimental plan for a month. The duo gets to work immediately and Beom-woo gets increasingly frustrated as he starts losing his assets and also finds himself unable to use his credit cards.

Yeon-joo on the other hand, hires Myung-sook, an experienced chef, who she believes will help in cooking up great dishes. Beom-woo and Myung-sook do not start on a great note as the latter does not understand the kind of stakes that the former has in this establishment. Moreover, as Myung-sook drops a jar of kimchi in front of Beom-woo, things further escalate and Beom-woo leaves.

However, he comes back with a gang of people from the village, who all eat Myung-sook’s ‘jeon’, a dish that is popularly made when it rains in Korea. Some of the villagers also assure Beom-woo of the capabilities of Myung-sook and this whole thing serves as a marketing technique for the restaurant.

Tastefully Yours can be streamed on Netflix with new episodes coming out weekly on Mondays and Tuesdays.
