Veteran actor Kurt Russell has been cast as a series regular in Taylor Sheridan's The Madison, one of the many upcoming Yellowstone spin-off series.
Russell recently starred in Apple TV's Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, alongside his son, Wyatt Russell. Reports suggest that the elder Russell will play the role of Michelle Pfeiffer's husband, who was earlier announced as the lead star in Sheridan's upcoming spin-off series.
The Madison is brought to you by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios, and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions. The confirmed cast list for this Yellowstone spin-off also includes Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Rebecca Spence, Danielle Vasinova, Matthew Fox, Beau Garrett, Kevin Zegers, Amiah Miller, Ben Schnetzer, and Alaina Pollack.

The Madison casts veteran actor Kurt Russell as a series regular
Sheridan has decided to shift gears with The Madison, as it is the first spin-off series to not focus on the infamous Dutton family. Instead, this Yellowstone spin-off is a contemporary tale of grief and human connection, about a New York City family who moves to the Madison River valley of Montana. While the series will tap into the familiar and iconic Montana aesthetic of the flagship series, it will focus on a new set of characters in the present day.
The Madison will mark one of the few small-screen projects in Kurt Russell's career spanning several decades, as the actor has mostly appeared on the big screen. In addition to the Apple TV series with junior Russell, the veteran actor voiced Ego in the MCU's animated series What If...? He also starred as the legendary 'King of Rock and Roll' Elvis Presley in the 1979 TV film Elvis, which also earned him an Emmy nomination.
The newly announced Madison star has spent most of his career in films. Some of his most famous projects include Escape from New York, The Thing, Tequila Sunrise, Tombstone, Escape from L.A., Stargate, Miracle, and Captain Ron.
Russell has also appeared in contemporary films like The Fast and Furious franchise, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Christmas Chronicles, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone universe is expanding with The Dutton Ranch and Y: Marshals
The Madison, earlier titled 2024, is certainly not the only Yellowstone spin-off in the works. While Sheridan had to wrap the flagship series after five seasons due to the off-screen drama with star Kevin Costner, the filmmaker seems determined to expand his cowboy universe.
Following the success with 1883 and 1923, two prequels to the parent series, Sheridan is also bringing two sequels to the Yellowstone universe, namely Y: Marshals (with Luke Grimes' Kayce) and The Dutton Ranch (with Kelly Reilly's Beth and Cole Hauser's Beth).
Both of the sequels will focus on the Dutton children after the tragic death of their father and the events of the Yellowstone Season 5 finale. While Y: Marshals will follow Kayce as he joins an elite team of US Marshals to bring justice in Montana, The Dutton Ranch will follow Beth and Rip as they move away from their family property and start a new life with their adopted son, Carter.
