Ted Lasso, the Apple TV comedy drama which came out in 2020 and aired its season three finale on May 31, 2023, is returning for a fourth season. Apple announced that the show has been renewed for a fourth season on March 14, 2025.

For almost two years, we didn't know if Ted Lasso would have a season four, after it ended its third season in 2023. However, in 2025, we did get news of the show getting renewed. Hence, if the show gets renewed for a fifth season, we probably won't hear about it anytime soon.

However, Brett Goldstein, who both co-wrote the show and starred as Roy Kent, talked about the future of Ted Lasso after season four on the Jimmy Kimmel Show on June 3, 2025.

What lies ahead for Ted Lasso after season four?

Ted Lasso, the sports comedy-drama, revolves around an American football coach, who the show is named after. Ted suddenly has to coach an English Premier League Soccer team despite having no experience in coaching the sport.

As it turns out, the team, AFC Richmond's owner, Rebecca Welton, hired him intentionally, hoping he would be bad at the job and ruin chances of the team's success. She did so to get back at her ex-husband Rupert, who loves the team and who she got the team from as part of their divorce settlement.

The three seasons of Ted Lasso show us how Ted adapts to the new sport, new owner, new team, and a whole new country. The third season ended with Ted returning to Kansas to spend more time with his team and Rebecca getting a proposal to start an AFC Richmond Women's team.

Season four will likely see the formation of an AFC Richmond Women's team with Ted hopefully returning. That's all we know about season four up till now. However, there remains the question if the fourth season will also be the last.

While speaking to Jimmy Kimmel at the Jimmy Kimmel Show, Brett Goldstein was asked if he thought season three was the show's final season or did he knew they were returning. In response, Goldstein said:

"We did all cry, and we did all hug, but I also think, if I'm honest, a lot of us when we were hugging said 'We'll come back, won't we?' I felt 90% - I can't give you the numbers - I felt like we'd come back, but I didn't know."

When Jimmy asked him if season four was the final one, Goldstein replied:

"I think that's a conversation for Apple and I say that because someone from Apple is pointing a sniper rifle at me as you ask that question. I think we'd love to do it forever, you know, but I think there's a limit..."

Brett Goldstein's words are in no way a confirmation or denial about whether season four is the final season of the show or not. However, given the show's popularity, it could go on for a few more seasons, as long as the story is right. We won't know for sure until Apple gives an official statement.

The first three seasons of Ted Lasso are streaming on Apple TV+.
