Per the March 2025 announcement from Apple TV, Ted Lasso Season 4 is officially in production, and a recent conversation with Nick Mohammed revealed that this season might be a bit different from the ones before.
The Emmy-winning sports comedy drama first premiered in 2020 and has since grown to be a sensational hit, standing quite in contrast to the unexpected warmth of the show. The show appeared to be wrapping up after its third season, which premiered in 2022, with official statements from the creatives, marking it as the end of the Apple TV original.
However, much to the fans' excitement, Ted Lasso was renewed for the fourth season in 2025. It is currently being filmed with many stars reprising their roles in the new season. In a recent conversation with Collider, the Slow Horses star revealed that the fourth season will focus on different avenues compared to the previous season.

Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed teases Season 4 of the Apple TV original

The Apple TV original, now nothing short of a cultural phenomenon, centers around the titular clueless football coach played by Jason Sudeikis, who is hired as the coach of a British soccer team to lead them to victory.
Back in 2023, fans were heartbroken to learn that the show was wrapping up after the third season, considering how uplifting and endearing it was. So, the fact that it is now returning for a fourth season is nothing short of ecstatic for them. However, Nick Mohammed's comments about the fourth season might be asking fans to adjust their perception of the fourth season.
Per Mohammed, who was very secretive about his role or future in the season and revealed next to no details, the fourth season of Ted Lasso will be focusing on a whole different set of characters than the previous seasons. He did not reveal any more details, saying that he's been sworn to secrecy.
"I think sworn to secrecy is about right. Look, I know that it's about a whole different set of characters. I can't even talk about it without giving anything away! We'll have to see. We'll have to see who pops up where and when."
The "whole different set of characters" doesn't make much sense when considering the number of Ted Lasso stars reportedly set to return in the fourth season. However, one thing will be very different this season, which Mohammed might've been referring to.
According to reports, instead of the A.F.C. Richmond Men's team, the team that the titular head coach played by Sudeikis will be taking on is the women's soccer team. The new castings for Ted Lasso, which include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, and Abbie Hern, might be the new characters, aka the women's team, that Mohammed is referring to in his comments about the new season.

Nick Mohammed also went on to add that he had "been socializing with them all," meaning that his return in Season 4 might be a very real possibility.
"But I know that they're filming it now, and I've been socializing with them all. They’re all very well, so we'll see what happens."
So, even though most of the familiar faces are returning for Ted Lasso Season 4, the members of the male team might not be seen as often. Instead, the show will focus on the new team that Ted will be coaching.
