Tell Me Lies cast and character guide: Who played whom in the Hulu drama adaptation?

Created by Meaghan Oppenheimer, Tell Me Lies, is a drama show that is based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Carola Lovering. Featuring Grace Van Patten, Jackson White, and others, the show is set in the late 2000s and revolves around the toxic and turbulent relationship between Lucy Albright (Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (White). The two meet at an Upstate New York school called Baird College and the show chronicles their relationship over the course of eight years.

The coming-of-age show looks at adolescent relationships and the lasting impact that it creates. The show has a number of familiar faces and below mentioned is a detailed guide about the cast and the character they play in Tell Me Lies.

• Grace Van Patten as Lucy Albright – The actress is the daughter of director Timothy Van Patten and she first appeared in The Sopranos as a child. She has also worked in Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers before the same network’s Tell Me Lies and in Nine Perfect Strangers, she worked alongside Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, and others. In Tell Me Lies, the actress plays the lead role of Lucy Albright, who is trying to adjust to college after her father’s death and her roommate’s death. She begins a relationship with Stephen in the show.

• Jackson White as Stephen DeMarco – The actor was interested in music before acting and studied drumming. White has featured in The Middle and in the HBO miniseries Mrs. Fletcher, opposite Katherine Hahn. The son of actress Katey Sagal, the actor plays Stephen DeMarco in the Hulu show, who has a dysfunctional family and is a sociopathic womanizer who manipulates Lucy.

• Catherine Missal as Bree – the actress began working as a child and has appeared in The Blacklist and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. However, her role in Tell Me Lies as Bree, is the breakthrough role. She is the responsible friend in the series and wants to focus on her academics. Eventually, she marries Evan, who was Stephen’s roommate at Baird.

• Sonia Mena as Pippa – The actress has appeared in Search Party and Love Victor and she stars as Pippa in Tell Me Lies. The character struggles with allowing herself to fell things and she is initially in a relationship with Wrigley, before getting into a relationship with Diana Linder in the future.

• Spencer House as Wrigley – The actor has acted in multiple independent movies and his first major role was in The Society by Netflix. He played a football star and diplomat in the show and he has also appeared in Jessica Jones, Dr. Death, and other projects. In the Hulu show, he plays the character of Wrigley, who is a football star at Baird and helps his younger brother through his mental health challenges. He is in a relationship with Pippa and he later loses his brother to a drug overdose and mourns his loss.

• Branden Cook as Evan – The actor has appeared in several projects like Chicago P.D., and Apple TV+’s Masters of the Air, where he worked with actors like Austin Butler. In Tell Me Lies, Cook plays Evan, who is Stephen’s roommate at Baird. Even though he cautions Stephen about his manipulative ways, he also hides his secrets from Lucy. He ultimately cheats on Bree with Lucy.

• Alicia Crowder as Diana – Crowder has an extensive theatrical background and has worked in The Society, Bleecker, and other projects. In Tell Me Lies, she plays the ambitious Diana Linder, who has an on-off relationship with Stephen. Diana is a member of the school’s a cappella group and eventually, she enters into a relationship with Pippa.

Apart from all these major characters, the show also has other important characters like Tom Ellis in the role of Oliver, who has a relationship with Bree and who is the husband of Marriane. The role of Marriane is played by Gabriella Pession, who is an English professor at Baird and encourages Lucy to become a writer. Also, Natalee Linez plays the role of Lydia Montgomery, who is Lucy’s best friend and it is revealed that Stephen gets engaged to Lydia in the future.
