Tell Me Lies is a trendy TV show among adults for its romance and thriller themes. However, if you're a parent wondering if the series is safe for your kids, the answer is no.

Based on the book Tell Me Lies by Carola Lovering, the series features Grace Van Patten as Lucy, Jackson White as Stephen, Catherine Missal as Bree, Spencer House as Wrigley, Sonia Mena as Pippa, and Branden Cook as Evan in the main leads.

The series has a total of two seasons, the first released in 2022, followed by another season two years later. The first season consists of ten episodes, while the second consists of eight episodes. The season has also been renewed with the third season, scheduled to premiere in January next year.

With a third season on the way, Tell Me Lies has left many parents thinking if Tell Me Lies is a safe watch for kids.

It comprises intense romantic scenes and relationship troubles that are clearly not suitable for kids to watch.

Tell Me Lies parents guide

Tell Me Lies focuses heavily on adult romance that is not suitable for younger kids. While there are plenty of kissing scenes, it also openly shows sexual scenes that are meant for mature audiences, likely above eighteen.

Additionally, the series shows unhealthy relationships that include frequent fights, gaslighting, and manipulation, which are not good examples for kids. The drama centres around people's minds, troubled relationships, and cheating, showing the problems and emotions that the characters go through.

The synopsis of the series on ABC reads:

"Tell Me Lies' follows a tumultuous but intoxicating relationship as it unfolds over the course of 8 years. When Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) meet at college, they are at that formative age when seemingly mundane choices lead the way to irrevocable consequences. Although their relationship begins like any typical campus romance, they quickly fall into an addictive entanglement that will permanently alter not only their lives, but the lives of everyone around them."

There is also use of strong language, which makes it strictly for adult audiences. Viewers may also see scenes with alcohol use, which some may find strange, especially since the story focuses on young teens.

However, the series doesn't have any violent content, except for a scene where a character passes away in an accident.

The series has also been rated for adult audiences in a number of countries. In the United States, it carries a TV-MA rating, and in Canada, it is rated eighteen plus. While in Singapore, it is rated R21, reflecting its mature content.

Additionally, Apple TV has marked the series for the audience above the age of eighteen.

This leaves viewers with the answer that Tell Me Lies is best for adults over eighteen. With the heavy themes going on in the series, young kids might find them disturbing and confusing to watch.

It also shows kissing, sexual content, and drinking, which are not suitable for kids below the age of eighteen. The series is meant for mature audiences who can handle adult content responsibly.
