Tell Me Lies Season 3 marks the return of the long-awaited drama.

If you’re wondering when it drops, who’s returning, and how wild things are about to get, here's all we know.

Season 3 releases on Hulu on January 13 with a two-episode premiere and everything picks up right when Lucy and Stephen decide to try again. Below is the full breakdown of everything we know about Season 3, so you don’t miss a thing.

The spring semester mess we are walking into in Tell Me Lies Season 3

Tell Me Lies Season 3 might be the most dramatic run yet because the show is basically dropping us right back into Lucy and Stephen’s mess at Baird College. Hulu officially shared the new season's synopsis and it completely sets the tone.

The synopsis for the upcoming season reads,

“Tell Me Lies Season 3 follows Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco as they’ve rekindled their tumultuous romance in time for spring semester at Baird College. While they promise things will be different this time, past indiscretions hinder their best intentions, and Lucy finds herself embroiled in a controversy she wants nothing to do with."
"Meanwhile, the disastrous repercussions from the previous year also force Lucy and Stephen's friends to face their own destructive behaviors. As scandalous secrets fester around campus, vicious consequences threaten Lucy and everyone in her circle.”

This basically tells us that even though they’re acting like they want a clean slate, their history is still affecting them. Grace Van Patten talked about the new season in an interview with Deadline and said,

“It is emotional chaos. Turmoil. Meaghan somehow just surpasses expectations every season. And I don’t know how she finds a way to make it crazier every season, but she does. And it’s dark, that’s all I’ll say.”

Production for Tell Me Lies Season 3 started in May 2025 and now that we know the season is set during the spring semester, we’re basically heading straight into even more secrets, more fallouts, and more friendships cracking right down the middle.

Every single person in this friend group cooked up some kind of bad decision in season 2, so Tell Me Lies Season 3 is where all that stuff finally comes home.

Cast returns, new faces, and everything confirmed for Season 3

The cast lineup in Tell Me Lies Season 3 is stacked with all the familiar faces we’ve been stressing over since day one. Grace Van Patten is back as Lucy and Jackson White is back as Stephen, which makes sense since the entire show basically circles them.

The returning cast also includes Sonia Mena, Catherine Missal, Spencer House, Alicia Crowder, Branden Cook, Katherine Hughes, Gabriella Pession and Natalee Linez. Tom Ellis is also back after joining in season two.

Deadline reported that Iris Apatow has joined Season 3 in a recurring role as Amanda, who is described as a bubbly but fragile freshman. The outlet also reported that Costa D’Angelo will appear as Alex, a psychology grad student with a past connection to Bree. That already sounds messy.

The timing of Tell Me Lies Season 3 is interesting because creator Meaghan Oppenheimer explained to Variety that she always planned a shift between the 2008 and 2015 timelines. She said,

“I did map that out way in advance when I just thought about what the structure of the show was...But I think it would be a little bit shifted in the sense that there will probably be more 2015 than 2008.”

That means we might finally understand the grown-up versions of these characters a little more.

Grace Van Patten also teased the season in ELLE and said,

“I didn’t think it could get crazier, but fans are in for a ride"

That alone should warn all of us that Tell Me Lies Season 3 is diving even deeper into everyone’s worst choices.

So yeah, Tell Me Lies Season 3 is coming in hot with more secrets, more drama and more terrible decisions that nobody will take responsibility for. The premiere drops January 13 and it already looks like the most explosive season yet.

With big cast returns, brand new characters and a timeline shift, this season feels like it’s setting up answers we’ve been waiting on since season one. Basically, if you thought the show was messy before, Season 3 is about to top it all.
