Netflix's newest reality competition show Battle Camp brought together stars from across the streaming platform's reality universe, pitting contestants from shows like "The Mole," "The Circle," "Love is Blind," and "Squid Game: The Challenge" against each other in a series of wilderness challenges.

While Lorenzo ultimately claimed victory in the 10-episode series that dropped on April 23, 2025, it was fellow "Squid Game: The Challenge" alum Trey who generated considerable buzz with his controversial gameplay strategy.

In a candid interview on "The Drive-In Podcast Network" released April 28, Trey revealed his true feelings about the dramatic double elimination of contestants Avori and Gio in episode 7. When asked how he felt witnessing their departure moments after they called him out, Trey didn't hide his satisfaction.

"Oh, fantastic. That's like, that's delightful," Trey said about their elimination.

Elaborating:

"You can't ask for anything better than two people yelling at you and then immediately going home."

The unfiltered response offers insight into the competitive dynamic that made the show's first season a talking point among reality TV fans, particularly regarding Trey's tactical approach that many contestants and viewers labeled as betrayal.

Avori and Gio’s elimination from Battle Camp

The tension between Trey and the eliminated contestants stemmed from his gameplay decisions earlier in the season. According to the show's narrative, Avori was particularly upset after Trey voted to eliminate Louis despite previously assuring him of his alliance.

This perceived betrayal led to a heated confrontation at the elimination wheel, where both Avori and Gio publicly called out Trey's tactics. In what many viewers described as karmic timing, both critics found themselves eliminated from the competition shortly thereafter.

The podcast host noted this was one of his favorite moments from the season, though he admitted that as a viewer, he found Trey "getting on his nerves." However, he praised Trey's ability to embrace the camp dynamics, calling his approach "amazing."

The conversation shifted to potential casting for a second season of "Battle Camp," with both Trey and Lorenzo offering surprising suggestions.

"I think my mom would be great in Battle Camp," Trey proposed, adding that "she would need to do a little more personal training" before competing.

He also recommended fellow contestant Phil for consideration, noting his entertaining personality combined with competitive spirit would make him ideal for the show's format.

Lorenzo, the season's winner, playfully suggested he should return for season two himself, claiming his newfound understanding of the game's dynamics would give him an advantage. He supported Trey's nomination of his mother but disagreed about her needing preparation.

"I don't think she needed any personal training because she could smash it regardless," Lorenzo said.

In a moment of humor, Lorenzo also suggested recruiting Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for the show.

Relationships formed in competition

Beyond the strategic gameplay and eliminations, Battle Camp also fostered unexpected friendships among contestants. Lorenzo shared insights about his surprising bond with Georgia, explaining that their compatible sense of humor created a strong connection.

"The biggest connections I made in life were with people who matched my humor," he reflected.

While Netflix hasn't officially announced Battle Camp Season 2, the strong viewer response and contestant enthusiasm suggest the format could return with new reality stars ready to test their survival skills in the competitive wilderness setting.

Battle Camp premiered on April 23, 2025, and all 10 episodes are now available to stream on Netflix.
