Netflix’s adaptation of the classic, The Age of Innocence, has found its four lead cast members. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Edith Wharton, the limited series will take us to 19th-century New York, amid the stuffy upper class of the time.

As per Deadline, the four cast members who will appear in the classic novel adaptation are Margo Martindale, Kristine Froseth, Ben Radcliffe, and Camila Morrone. The adaptation will portray the bittersweet love story that struggles between societal pressures and personal desires.

Let’s explore the characters of Netflix’s The Age of Innocence further.

The Age of Innocence: Four major cast members added in the Netflix adaptation

As per Netflix, the adaptation of The Age of Innocence is expected to be a new take on Edith Wharton’s classic novel but still true to the original story. It will bring in the grandeur of the ballrooms and the life of the upper class living in the Golden Age of New York, while also depicting the hypocrisy of the social norms that one has to follow by going against one's own heart and desire.

With the love triangle between Archer, May, and Ellen, the miniseries will portray a story that will bring light to the society of the time.

Here are the four major characters that will appear in the Netflix adaptation:

1) Ben Radcliffe as Newland Archer

Radcliffe’s Newland Archer is described by Netflix as “intelligent and progressive." While he was raised with traditional values of life, Archer finds himself questioning and wanting more from the world, which creates the struggles between society and personal desires.

The English actor has also been seen in popular shows such as Anatomy of a Scandal and Netflix’s The Witcher.

2) Kristine Froseth as May Welland

Just like Archer, Froseth has also grown up with those traditional values and has no problem following the rules of society. However, there might still be times when the obedient rule follower might stray away from those rules.

While we might have to wait to see Froseth take up the classic role, you can still enjoy her acting and defying rules in Apple TV’s The Buccaneers, where she plays the character of Nan St. George.

3) Camila Morrone as Ellen Olenska

Morrone’s Ellen is described as a carefree and independent woman. However, she still finds herself adjusting to society as a woman with a failed marriage.

Morrone has appeared in the popular miniseries Daisy Jones & the Six and will also appear in The Night Manager Season 2.

4) Margo Martindale as Mrs. Manson-Mingott

Martindale will play May and Ellen’s grandmother in the series. Mrs. Manson-Mingott will be one of the entertaining characters due to her unpredictable and bold personality.

The veteran American actress has appeared in numerous TV shows, which include Poker Face, Mrs. Davis, Justified, and The Americans.
