The Amazing Race isn’t kidding when it says it tests people, body, brain, and patience all get a workout. This week, the ten remaining teams swapped the fairy-tale streets of the Czech Republic for the buzz of Budapest, and things got messy fast.

One challenge had racers racing a Rubik’s Cube, another had them steering actual horse carriages, and the rest were left dancing or juggling their way to safety, literally. What started as a calm sightseeing trip turned into a full-blown scramble for survival. Some teams nailed the chaos, others tripped, but by the end of the leg, one pair was celebrating at the top while another was packing their bags for home.

How did the contestants fare on the latest The Amazing Race episode?

The Amazing Race's Kat Dunn and Alex Romo were the unlucky duo to get the boot after Budapest turned into a bit of a disaster for them. Between a tricky Roadblock and a Detour that just wouldn’t click, the dating pair couldn’t shake off the bad luck following them all episode. They started strong earlier in the race, but this leg’s chaos proved too much, and just like that, their Amazing Race journey ended with a sigh instead of a sprint.

While Kat and Alex were waving goodbye, Tucker and Eric Des Lauriers were busy stealing the show. The brothers crushed the Fast Forward by solving a Rubik’s Cube in under seven and a half seconds, earning them an instant first-place finish. Tucker’s puzzle obsession (a Big Brother fan’s favorite trait) finally paid off spectacularly.

Not far behind, Natalie and Stephanie Negrotti kept up their streak with another smooth performance, proving that consistency and maybe a little sibling telepathy can go a long way in this race.

Izzy Gleicher and Paige Seber also impressed, climbing to third place after breezing through the dance-themed Detour.

Not every team found success in Budapest, though. Jack and Chelsie Baham struggled throughout the leg, landing in second-to-last after repeated missteps with navigation and coordination. Kristine and Rubina Bernabe faced a rollercoaster of a day, starting near the bottom after the Roadblock but recovering just enough to dance their way out of elimination.

Who all are left in the race?

With the dust settled, nine teams remain in The Amazing Race. Among them are sisters Hannah and Simone Chaddha, engaged couple Izzy and Paige, brothers Jas and Jag Bains, dating duo Kyland Young and Taylor Hale, and siblings Joseph and Adam Abdin, alongside the returning frontrunners.

The latest episode proved that in The Amazing Race, momentum can shift in a single challenge. Tucker and Eric’s Fast Forward win gave them a crucial advantage and a boost of confidence, heading into the next leg. For those at the back, the pressure is only mounting. With every destination, the road ahead gets trickier, and the margin for error grows thinner.

The Amazing Race airs Wednesdays on CBS and streams the same day on Paramount+.
