The adult animated series, Marvel Zombies, set to premiere on Disney+ on September 24, 2025, will showcase the MCU character Blade. It’s Blade’s second time on screen, with the design modeled after Mahershala Ali, who also made a voice cameo in Eternals.
Blade first appeared in the MCU in Deadpool & Wolverine, portrayed by Wesley Snipes, who had previously played the character in non-MCU films. The new design, modeled after Mahershala Ali, gives Blade a refreshed and enhanced look.

Why Mahershala Ali’s Blade design in Marvel Zombies is better than the original
Marvel Zombies is an upcoming Marvel adult animated series, serving as a sequel to What If…? Season 1 episode What If… Zombies?!. The new series will follow a group of survivors in a post-apocalyptic world as they fight superheroes and villains who have died and become zombies. The group also faces zombie versions of the Avengers, making their survival even more difficult. They must not only fight these zombie heroes and villains but also search for a cure to the virus.
Blade, who is half-human and half-vampire, will appear in a new miniseries wearing Moon Knight’s suit rather than his usual black trench coat and sunglasses. Along with the suit, he will have glowing white eyes and a protective mouthpiece, giving him a more menacing look. Wesley Snipes’ cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine removed the coat and signature look, making him appear less intimidating and simpler than intended. While Snipes’ Blade still wore a suit, it did not match the style of his original films. Meanwhile, Marvel Zombies Blade, designed after Mahershala Ali and wearing Moon Knight’s suit, gives the character a design that feels both dangerous and stylish.

Although Blade’s design is inspired by Ali, Todd Williams provides the character’s voice in the series. Ali is still expected to appear in a future MCU Blade film, but a release date has not yet been set. This Marvel Zombies Blade design might serve as a preview of how the character will appear in the upcoming film.
The show’s voice cast includes multiple actors reprising their MCU roles, such as Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel, Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams / Ironheart, Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian, Simu Liu as Xu Shang-Chi, Awkwafina as Katy, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Red Queen, and Paul Rudd as Scott Lang / Ant-Man, among others.
The show is created by Bryan Andrews and Zeb Wells. Wells and Andrews also serve as executive producers alongside Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, and Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt. The series is produced by Danielle Costa and Carrie Wassenaar and is produced by Marvel Studios Animation.
Marvel Zombies will be released on Disney+ on 24th September 2025.
