FX's The Bear Season 4 was a roller-coaster ride for the titular restaurant's chefs and workers, and the new season saw more problems and challenges in their professional lives.
Picking up right where Season 3 left off, it was revealed that Carmy's restaurant got a below-average review from the Chicago Tribune, which put his business literally under a clock from Cicero and Computer. They gave the restaurant staff two months to earn enough revenue, or their business would be closed for good.
Elsewhere, looking for opportunities, the Original Beef shop owner, Ebra, hires a mentor named Albert, who suggests franchising The Beef.
While the other owners think of Albert as an opportunist, as he also demands his share of the profits, Computer agrees with him, suggesting The Beef's expansion in future seasons.
Here is how The Bear Season 4 ended for all major characters.
The Bear Season 4 ending explained: Carmy decides to leave the restaurant business
Much of The Bear Season 4 focused on Carmy's understanding of his shortcomings as a chef and his futile need to chase after perfection.
Even his friends and colleagues would agree that he was a toxic presence in the restaurant and made their already stressful job more difficult. However, by the end of Season 4, he realizes that it's time for him to finally retire from the restaurant business because he doesn't like being a chef anymore.
When he announces this decision to Sydney and Richie, they both take it harshly, feeling that Carmy is betraying them.
The Bear Season 4 ending explained: Sydney and Richie become the frontrunners for the restaurant
The Bear Season 4 is shaking things up as Carmy decides to leave the restaurant industry. His decision affects both Sydney and Richie, who are struggling in their personal lives.
For Sydney, things are not good back home as her father suffered from a heart attack, and since then, she has been dealing with anxiety. On top of this, she just turned down Shapiro's offer for a better position at his new restaurant because she feels The Bear is her family.
However, when Carmy announces his decision, she feels betrayed because she just chose her friend for a better job opportunity, only to find out that he is now leaving her.
On the other hand, things are also not going well for Richie, who feels like he is losing another important person in his life. After a great struggle, Richie finally found some balance in co-parenting with his ex-wife and her new husband, which finally opened doors to his romance with Jessica. Carmy's decision felt like a betrayal to him.
While both Sydney and Richie had extreme reactions to Carmy's decision, they eventually accepted his decision. However, Sydney asks Carmy to make Richie a co-partner, and he promises to stick around with them until their debt is paid off.
After rejecting Shapiro's offer, it looks like Sydney will now lead The Bear in Season 5.
The Bear Season 4 ending explained: Marcus and Tina close the season on a high note
Unlike last season, Marcus and Tina finally earned a place in the kitchen in The Bear Season 4.
Throughout The Bear Season 3, Marcus suffered from Computer's scrutiny, who even suggested firing him. But things looked bright for him in the new season as he finally dealt with the grief of his mother's death by selling (and in turn letting her go) her house.
On the professional front, he was chosen as Food & Wine's Best New Chefs of the year, proving his worth to Computer and The Bear.
Elsewhere, while Tina struggled to get her dish out in under three minutes in the previous season, The Bear Season 4 finally changed that. After obsessing over her timing throughout the episode, she finally gets her dish out in under three minutes, proving that her future is bright at the restaurant.
