Season 4 of The Bear kicked off earlier last month, and the show has received a fairly positive response. The Emmy-winning series centers around the life of Carmy, an award-winning fine-dining chef who returns to Chicago to salvage his family’s sandwich shop, The Bear.

Seasons 1 and 2 of the show received extremely positive reviews from viewers. However, by Season 3, viewers had started complaining about a few issues that had cropped up. While some of these were related to specific characters, such as the character arc seen for Claire, one of the more pressing issues was the pace in the season.

This even resulted in a dip in the ratings that the show received during its third season. However, the makers of the drama seem to have taken the criticism positively and have refrained from repeating these errors in the current season.

The creators of The Bear Season 4 have refrained from repeating the same errors that were seen in Season 3

One of the more pressing issues conveyed by the audience at the end of Season 3 was the season’s pace, especially the opening episode. All of Season 3 dwelled heavily on Carmy’s story, going back and showing glimpses of his time as a chef, especially highlighting his culinary career. This ended up affecting the pace of the show, which fans did not appreciate.

However, the creators took this feedback seriously. Subsequently, Season 4 begins at an extremely fast pace, keeping up the high energy seen in the Season 3 finale.

Season 4 kicks off with an intense kitchen scene, where Richie is seen hiring Jessica and former Ever members with the aim of increasing efficiency within the team. Moreover, the original crew of the restaurant is also seen facing their own struggles as the restaurant shifts from being a money-losing venture to a Michelin star-seeking restaurant.

This fast pace in the opening episode sets the tone for the rest of the season. Season 4 also ties up several loose ends that left fans puzzled in previous seasons. One of these is Luca’s multiple appearances, which may have now turned into a permanent spot for Will Poulter on the cast.

The Bear is available for streaming on FX.
