Jeremy Allen White opens up about The Bear

Jeremy Allen White has disclosed that his character will undergo major changes in The Bear season five. Jeremy talked on the Award Chatter Podcast,

“There .....I think it’s just all dependent on what Chris wants to do. But if it were up to me? I ..... read Chris’ words, and also to work with these actors .....so I’d do it for a very long time.”

Carmy had to make the tough decision to leave the restaurant and take a break from cooking at the season four finale. The series will explore what happens following this choice. White believes that Carmy needs to figure out who he is outside of the kitchen.

According to him, the character is on an indefinite vacation to discover his genuine passion. This change broadened the show's storyline choices. Carmy's personal development and mental health are needed for this move. The plot of the new season will center on how Carmy learns to live without the restaurant that has long defined him.

Long but not forever

Allen has been leaving his fans to imagine what may happen to The Bear after the next season. In a recent Deadline interview, he expressed his excitement to be working with the show’s creator, Christopher Storer, and the cast. He explained that he could picture himself staying there for a few years

Simultaneously, he had no idea of the danger of playing too long with a show and losing the stinging narrative that makes it special. He learned that lesson through the eleven seasons of his experience at Shameless. White hoped that the show would be a success and would continue to thrive throughout time.

Passionate about the character

White has discussed his part in The Bear and its creators with genuine passion. He claimed that his experience as Carmy was unlike any other role he has played on TV. Christopher Storer treated him like a genuine buddy and partner. This treatment made him happier.

On January 5, 2026, Jeremy is thrilled to be back at the new season of filming. This is his only excuse, since he had become close to his castmates. The show has become more than a venture for Jeremy. Although his rigorous schedule had left him with little time to devote his full attention to the series, he insisted on doing so when the production for the new season started.
