Netflix's hit romantic drama series Virgin River has officially wrapped filming for Season 7.

Based on American author Robyn Carr's book series of the same name, the show premiered its sixth season in December 2024 and was already renewed for the next season before the Season 6 premiere.

Filming for Virgin River Season 7 began in Spring 2025 and has now officially wrapped production. While Netflix has yet to announce the release date, the upcoming chapter could likely hit our screens in late 2025.

The cast of the show took to their Instagram to announce the wrapping of Season 7.

More on this in our story.

Virgin River Season 7 wraps filming as cast shares heartfelt social media posts

Netflix's hit series Virgin River has finally wrapped production on Season 7, and the cast shared this good news with their fans on Instagram.

Benjamin Hollingsworth (Brady) shared a joint Instagram post with co-star Kandyse McClure (Kaia) to announce the wrapping for season 7 and shared cast selfies from the last day of filming:

“First day of Summer and Last day of Filming Season 7 of Virgin River.''

McClure also took to the comments and wrote:

“It was the best day!”

Actor Colin Lawrence, who plays John "Preacher" Middleton in the show, also took to his Instagram to express his gratitude on wrapping another successful season of the hit show:

“And that, my friends, is a wrap on Season 7 for John ‘Preacher’ Middleton. Oh gosh, what can I tell you? Another stellar season, in my humble opinion. This show has been the most fun to work on. I’ve been so blessed to have been a part of this for the last seven seasons. Fingers crossed more to come...to more laughs, more tears, just a lot of emotion” in the forthcoming installment.''

Zibby Allen (Brie) also shared photos with Hollingsworth, Alexandra Breckenridge (Mel), and Martin Henderson (Jack) to confirm the wrapping. In addition, Annette O’Toole (Hope) also shared a heartfelt picture with her dog to mark the official wrapping for Season 7.

What can you expect from Virgin River Season 7?

Virgin River Season 7 will likely pick up directly from the shocking Season 6 finale events.

For starters, the upcoming chapter will focus more on the clinic storyline and explore Doc and Hope's relationship and their past of saving a patient, which did not end well.

In an interview with Deadline, creator Patrick Sean Smith teased that the upcoming chapter will explore Hope's past and her ex-husband will also be back, leading to more conflict:

''Roland, yes, her [Hope's] ex-husband will come back in Season 7. A lot of what we’re doing in Season 7 that marries itself somewhat to the prequel is looking more in Hope’s history. From the beginning of the series, it was acknowledged that the McCrea cabin was something that people knew within 50 miles, and we’ve never really explored her family legacy to that area.''

In addition to the returning main cast, two new actors have also joined Season 7, Cody Kearsley and Sara Canning.

Canning will play an ex-cop who was once shot in her line of duty and is now working as an investigator with the state medical board. In the upcoming chapter, she will arrive in Virgin River to investigate Doc's practice, which will bring out old secrets about his life.
