The Boys Season 4 is packed with betrayals, shocking deaths, twisted politics, and messed-up superheroes. As always, the lines between good and evil are blurry, and our favorite anti-heroes are stuck in the middle of chaos. Let’s break down the ending in simple English so you don’t miss a thing.

The Boys are still fighting against corrupt superheroes. Their main target this season is Congresswoman Victoria Newman, who just became Vice President. The problem? She is secretly a “head-popper” soup, and almost impossible to kill. On the other hand, Homelander is struggling to control Vought after firing anyone competent. He needs help, so he turns to Sage, the smartest person alive. Together, they plot a future where soups rule the world.

Homelander dreams of making superheroes the rulers of society. Sage agrees, but she knows how to make it look good in the public eye. She sets up her first move at Homelander’s trial, which ends in a violent riot between his supporters and Annie/Starlight’s followers.

Homelander is put on trial for murdering a protester in broad daylight. The courtroom becomes a powder keg, and eventually, everything turns into an all-out fight. Annie, now the face of the anti-Homelander movement, clashes head-on with his army of supporters.

Every member of The Boys faces tough emotional battles this season:

  • Butcher is dying from Temp-V and sees hallucinations of Becca urging him to save Ryan.
  • Ryan struggles under Homelander’s toxic influence and accidentally kills someone during his first “rescue.”
  • Hughie deals with his father’s coma, worsened by his mom’s reckless decision to inject him with Compound V. His dad briefly wakes up but dies violently, leaving Hughie shattered.
  • Frenchie and Kimiko try to move forward, but Frenchie’s guilt about his past crimes lands him in prison. Their relationship becomes more tragic.
  • M.M. nearly chooses family over the fight but ultimately stays with The Boys.
  • A-Train finally begins redemption, secretly helping The Boys against Vought.

Newman’s secret plans in The Boys

The virus first teased in Gen V shows up here. It kills soups but not humans. Newman secretly gets it, but chaos follows when it leaks into the water supply, creating deadly mutant barn animals. Butcher later fakes his death, secretly keeping the virus for himself.

At an elite gathering of billionaires, Homelander tries to sell his “Make America Super Again” vision and fails miserably. Newman, however, wins over the powerful by giving them exactly what they want to hear, proving she’s smarter than him.

Homelander ditches Sage and turns to Firecracker. Disturbingly, she becomes his new “milk mommy,” echoing his obsession with Stillwell from earlier seasons. It is gross, unhealthy, and only shows how far Homelander has fallen.

The scientist warns Butcher: The virus strong enough to kill Homelander would also wipe out all soups. Butcher wrestles with this moral choice until finally snapping. In one shocking moment, he rips Newman in half, embracing his monstrous side fully.

Ryan is caught between his father, Homelander, and Butcher. The CIA tries to manipulate him into becoming a weapon against his dad. But in a moment of fear and anger, Ryan kills Mallory. This sends him running, confused and broken.

Homelander outs Newman as a soup, ruining their alliance. She surrenders, not wanting to be part of his madness anymore. Homelander’s coup crumbles, and Sage reveals this was her plan all along; she wanted him to fail so she could control things behind the scenes.

The Boys are now wanted enemies of the state. Annie and Hughie share a tearful goodbye. Frenchie and Kimiko confess their love, but Gen V soups kidnap Frenchie. Homelander uses his government power to hunt down dissenters, leaving The Boys scattered and vulnerable.

The season ends with major setups:

  • Butcher embraces his parasite powers and keeps the virus. He is ready to wipe out every soup on Earth.
  • Homelander now has government backing and access to secret files. He discovers Soldier Boy is still alive.
  • The world is on the edge of becoming a soup-controlled nightmare.

Season 4 of The Boys shows just how dangerous both Homelander and Butcher have become. One is a power-hungry dictator, the other a dying man willing to destroy everything to win.

With Newman gone, Sage pulling strings, and Soldier Boy teased for a comeback, Season 5 is shaping up to be the bloodiest chapter yet.
