The Boys' Jensen Ackles considers the possibility of him playing Batman in Gunn's DCU

In the ever-churning speculation around actors who can take up the mantle of playing Batman in Gunn's DCU, the latest fan favorite is The Boys actor Jensen Ackles. The Supernatural actor has previously lent his voice to the role in animated projects such as Crisis on Infinite Earths and Batman: The Long Halloween, so he is not a stranger to the role.
However, playing Batman after legends such as Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, and Michael Keaton can be a debilitating possibility. It appears that The Boys actor Jensen Ackles is more than aware of the pressure that comes attached to this role. In a recent conversation with Collider, he entertained the possibility and expressed certain vulnerability and reluctance at it while recognizing the honor it would be to play that role:
"You talk about not wanting to fumble the football — that’s one that I would be nervous as hell to carry. But also proud. A certain feather in the cap. Anybody who gets to wear the cowl, they got something."
He also expressed how he would go about such a task if he were actually chosen to play the role. Ackles explained that, considering the legends who've played this role before him, he understands that it would be difficult to create something unique, so he would completely lean on the director and the writer to inspire him into the role:
"It would be hard to carve out something truly unique amongst all of the performances as Batman. I would probably have to lean heavily on Gunn and whoever’s directing and whoever’s writing it, and get inspiration from the text."

Considering how Ackles has done a dozen animated movies voicing the character and how he understands the value of such a casting, the fan hopes are higher than ever when it comes to this casting. The actor's extraordinary performance as Soldier Boy in The Boys has also contributed to the fan craze around him being cast as Gotham's brooding protector.
