The Conjuring TV show is in development for Max after it was first announced in April 2023 during a launch event. According to reports, key people involved include Peter Safran, the producer of the Conjuring film universe. He is joining the TV show as an executive producer. Alongside him are James Wan and Nancy Won, serving as showrunner, writer, and executive producer.

However, since the announcement, there has been no information about the plot or the release date.

The series is intended to continue the story established in the films. It is expected to build on the lore of Ed and Lorraine Warren and their investigations.

Impressing the already existing fanbase will be challenging, as fans have high expectations regarding the portrayal of characters and the narrative. Here are five storylines that the Conjuring TV show would do well to incorporate.

The Perron Family Haunting

The Perron case from The Conjuring 2013 remains significant and the most chilling story of the franchise. The TV show must re-visit it, adding more nuance and an episode-wise breakdown of events. The TV show, for its medium, would get ample time to explore additional storylines that the film doesn't offer, such as the history of Bathsheba and the farmhouse's cursed past.

Annabelle’s True Origins

Annabelle and where it comes from have been central to the Conjuring franchise narrative. The film had to expose the audience to horror, sometimes exaggerated, while also digging deep into the Warren's document case. However, the TV show could cut it down and explore more of the document's case, offering more insights and layers. They could offer a grounded and investigative retelling that focuses on the psychological terror of Anabelle, rather than just relying on jump scares.

3. The Enfield Poltergeist

The Enfield case is another major storyline that the Conjuring TV show should explore. The TV show could do a miniseries-style arc beyond the demonic nun Valak. The film fictionalized the perspective of a nun to create a villainous character who targets the Catholic faith of paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren. Therefore, the show might also explore the real-life controversy of whether the haunting was genuine or fabricated. This will offer both perspectives with much to takeaway.

4. The Trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson

The Trial of Arne Johnson, shown in The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, a 2021 film, is a must-have plot for the TV show. A courtroom drama blended with horror could be fascinating. Warren's investigation, gathering of evidence and efforts to prove demonic possession in a legal setting is something that is worth looking into.

5. The Warren Occult Museum

With the new TV show, the makers have opportunities to dive into the background stories of multiple cursed objects that the films have featured, especially ones stored in the Warren Occult Museum.

The episodes can focus on a different object each time, exploring its backstory. With this, the TV show would have something new to offer while opening up the already established world for the fans.
