DCU (DC Universe) has taken off ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran were installed as its co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studios. Its first film, Superman, will be released on July 11, 2025.

Besides films, DCU will also feature television series, including Lantern, based on the character of Green Lantern. The series is expected to drop in early 2026 and stars Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, and Kelly McDonald among others.

Here is a list of five characters that the DCU needs to put in the show, as they need it now more than ever.

5 Green Lantern characters DCU needs to have

Here is a rundown of five characters that we believe DCU should incorporate into their upcoming show, Lanterns:

1) Ganthet - He is one of the few characters in the Guardians of the Universe who feels empathy for others. Later on, along with Sayd, Ganthet are banished from the Oa guardians mainly because they don't hide their emotions like others. The two then start the Blue Lantern Corps, and having them as the Blue Lanterns would be exciting.

2) Kyle Rener - Kyle Rayner is a Green Lantern who should be included in Lantern, which will help to complete the team called Core 4. He went through his rough phase until he got the ring and worked as a lone superhero. Kyle would be an interesting addition to the team of Lanterns in the DCU.

3) Carol Ferris - Also known as Star Sapphire, Carol is the love interest of Hal Jordan and was employed at Ferris Aircraft. Later in DC Comics, the character turns into Star Sapphire, an antagonist, but turns into a favorable character when the Blackest Night happens. Fans of the comic would be elated to see her in Lanterns.

4) Kilowog - He works as a drill sergeant for the recruitment of debutant Green Lanterns in the headquarters. Kilowog is considered one of the most powerful Green Lanterns out there, and to have him on the show would elevate the stakes.

5) Arkillo - In the comic book storyline, Arkillo is the manservant of Sinestro. If Sinestro has started his namesake corporation in the series, we can expect Arkillo to show up. He is a skilled fighter and a nemesis of Kilowog since he is also a drill sergeant by profession. This character will add more depth to the storyline.

Lanterns is created by Chris Mundy, showcasing two Green Lantern characters, John Stewart and Hal Jordan. The cast members of the show are,

  • Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan
  • Aaron Pierre as John Stewart
  • Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner
  • Kelly Macdonald as Kerry
  • Garret Dillahunt as William Macon
  • Poorna Jagannathan as Zoe
  • Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro
  • Nicole Ari Parker as Bernadette
  • Paul Ben-Victor as Antaan
  • Sherman Augustus as John Sr.

Mundy has also executive-produced the series with James Gunn, Peter Safran, Tom King, Ron Schmidt, James Hawes, and Damon Lindelof. As per IMDb, its synopsis reads:

"Lanterns follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland."
