The eighth episode of the series ends with a complex turn in Nak-su’s life, which will be delved into further in the next episodes of the series. The Dream Life of Mr. Kim is a character-driven series with layers. There is a distinct focus on the steady developments in the lives of the characters.

Ryu Seung-ryong’s depiction of Nak-su in the series dives deep into the complications that life often throws. In the previous episodes, Nak-su’s arrogance takes the stage. It often makes him misbehave with the people surrounding him. However, the transfer to the factory begins to bring forth a change in his demeanor. He decides to take voluntary retirement to help the other employees of the factory. He wants them to be able to keep their jobs.

Through his action, a completely new side of him comes to light. This unique development in Nak-su's character is perfectly captured by the actor. Similarly, Myung Se-bin’s performance as Ha-jin, especially in the seventh and eighth episodes of the series, depicts a distinct depth. Ha-jin is eager to help her family. Ha-jin faces many challenges because of her age.

Yet, she keeps on pushing forward. Ha-jin wants to pursue her dream. The job could help her secure the future of her family. In the eighth episode, we see her struggling to get a job. The multiple rejections do not stop her. She keeps a positive demeanor. Her determination truly shines bright.

The other notable cast members who are also bringing life to the storyline of The Dream Life of Mr. Kim are Cha Kang-yoon, Yoo Seung-mok, Lee Shin-ki, and many more. In episode eight of The Dream Life of Mr. Kim, Nak-su’s son’s behavior truly leaves an impact. Despite the arrogance of his father and the previous arguments that he had with his father, he tries not to become a burden in his father’s life.

Initially, Su-gyeom asks for the money that he needs to pay back for the loan. Later, he understands that he needs to work hard and not just rely on his father for money. He even fights with Han-na because she tells him to take the easy way out. In the eighth episode of the series, each of the characters is going through some complication or other. Nak-su’s selfless act ends up putting him in deep worry about his future. He knows that the money he received for retirement will not be enough to lead their life.

So, he decides to find some other managerial jobs. However, none of the employers was paying him the salary he deserved. Ha-jn begins to struggle while finding a job. At the end of the episode, she finally gets a job. Su-gyeom struggles to pay the money back.

He then takes up part-time jobs so that he can earn the money. Each of the characters faces their own troubles, but Nak-su’s troubles seem to get worse. At the end of the episode, he loses a lot of money because of a scammer salesman. The salesman’s sugarcoated words melt Nak-su, and he ends up buying a unit in a building, not knowing that he is getting scammed.
