The end is surely near in the first teaser for Stranger Things Season 5

"The Party" is back for one final chapter against the evils in their town in the fifth season of Stranger Things. Netflix has just shared the first teaser for the show, which offers a sense of the heightened stakes.

The gang has returned for another mission to protect their town from the imminent threats posed by the Upside Down. Demogorgons continue to haunt their lives and roam around, even as the military personnel have taken control over Hawkins. The stakes are much higher this time for the operation that seems like the town's last shot to survive.

The last time, in Season 4, Max (Sadie Sink) temporarily died, and while Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) brought her back to life, she remained in a coma. So, Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) stays by her side in the hospital, emotional and unsure whether she will return to life or not. After a climactic battle, Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) seemingly managed to merge Hawkins with his alternate dimension, putting all the lives in danger.

Hence, the new season will be the gang's battle against Vecna as they hope to find this malicious creature and end its enduring, ominous presence over their town for good.

The things have never been anything but strange in Hawkins, ever since a lab worked on experiments that led to the terrifying presence of a creepy entity from the Upside Down. Season 5 might just be the gang's last chance at doing good for their town. Here's the official synopsis per Netflix's Tudum:

“But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”
