Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan is bringing us a new world on November 7, 2025, with his new Apple TV+ show, Pluribus. The first trailer of the show has been released, and from the trailer itself, we can tell that this show isn't going to be anything like Breaking Bad or its spin-off Better Call Saul, which Gilligan also created.

The upcoming science fiction drama will follow the most miserable person in the world, who is strangely not a fan of happiness. But it is also strange how much the concept of happiness is sold in the world of Pluribus, and the show's protagonist will try to save the world from it.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan's new show, Pluribus showcases a strange world

Vince Gilligan is most famous for creating, writing, executive producing, and occasionally directing Breaking Bad (2008-2013) and Better Call Saul (2015-2022). Breaking Bad, starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, followed a chemistry teacher and his student who created a drug business from scratch. The show portrayed their struggles of running a drug business, dealing with local law, and other drug cartels. Better Call Saul is a spin-off of Breaking Bad, which follows the life of Saul Goodman before he becomes the criminal lawyer in Breaking Bad.

Vince Gilligan's new show, Pluribus, is, however, a totally different world. The trailer opens with a woman named Carol calling someone, who later turns out to be someone from the White House, presumably the President of the United States. The President advises her to stay at home for the next few days and that she should reach out if she has any needs, which will be provided. Not only is this luxury strange, but what's bizarre is the line of people carrying food somewhere, seemingly to Carol's house.

The next scene reveals that in this world, Carol is different. We see the President say,

"We will figure out what makes you different.'

When Carol, visibly and understandably, freaked out and asked why, he said,

"So we can fix it. So you can join us."

The last statement automatically makes one think that maybe there is a cult. But why would a government be in a cult? That is what makes the show even creepier. Besides, the President says all this with a calm face and voice, and then asks Carol if she has any questions, and she is just shocked at how bizarre all this is. The official logline of the show helps us understand the show a bit better, as it states,

The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.

Hence, Pluribus is a show about a woman who is the most miserable woman in a world where no one else is, and she has to save everyone from 'happiness.' What's intriguing about the plot is whether the people are all happy or if something much darker is going on.

Pluribus stars Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka, Karolina Wydra as Zosia, Carlos Manuel Vesga as Manusos, and Miriam Shor as Helen. Samba Schutte and Peter Bergman also star in unspecified roles. Pluribus is created by Vince Gilligan, who also executive produces along with Jeff Frost, Diane Mercer, Allyce Ozarski, Rhea Seehorn, Gordon Smith, and Alison Tatlock. The production companies behind the show are High Bridge Productions, Bristol Circle Entertainment, and Sony Pictures Television.

Pluribus will premiere on Apple TV+ in November with two episodes. The rest of the episodes will be released weekly on Fridays till December 26, 2025.
