HBO recently announced on Instagram that The Gilded Age has been renewed for a fourth season. The announcement came ahead of Season 3’s finale episode, which is scheduled to be released on 10th August 2025.
The show, created by Julian Fellowes, follows Marian Brook as she comes to New York City to live with her paternal aunts, Agnes van Rhijn and Ada Brook, after the death of her father. Taking place during the Gilded Age of the 1880s, the show delves into the era’s shifting social dynamics. It further explores the tension-filled dynamic between the van Rhijn-Brook household and the Russells.
The first seven episodes of The Gilded Age Season 3 have been released. The last two will be released over the next two Sundays, concluding the season on 10th August 2025. HBO announced the renewal through a post on Instagram with the caption:
The talk of the town can’t be ignored. #TheGildedAge will return for Season 4 on @hbomax.
The Gilded Age season 4 renewal
In The Gilded Age Season 3, Bertha Russell solidifies her family’s social standing through Gladys’s marriage to the Duke. This leads Bertha to empower Gladys against her domineering in-laws. Simultaneously, George faces severe financial issues due to leaked information and actions by a former employee, jeopardizing his railroad company.
Marian and Larry’s engagement implodes following what seems like a betrayal, though Larry finds a new business opportunity in copper mining. Peggy embarks on a romance amidst her growing journalism career and suffrage activism, while also facing resistance from her suitor’s family. Season 3 also brings some surprising changes, like Ada assuming control of the van Rhijn household after facing resistance from Agnes. What’s next for the series will likely become clear after the Season 3 finale.
The Gilded Age is written by Julian Fellowes and Sonja Warfield. Directors include Michael Engler, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Deborah Kampmeier, and Crystle Roberson. The series is a joint production between Neamo Film and Television, Universal Television, and HBO Entertainment.
As Deadline reports, Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming and Head of HBO Drama Series and Films, spoke on the Season 4 renewal, saying:
“We couldn’t be prouder of the undeniable viewership heights The Gilded Age has achieved this season,”

“Every moment spent in this world and with these characters only deepens our love for the show, and we’re so happy that our partners at HBO and audiences around the world are clamoring for more.”
