Previously on The Gilded Age Season 3 Episode 4: A quick recap

In episode 4, titled Marriage is a Gamble, Bertha Russell triumphed in her social climb as Gladys finally married the Duke of Buckingham. But behind the wedding's grandeur were quiet storms. Gladsy, reluctant and tearful, nearly backed out before her father, George, gave her an option to walk away. She chose to go through it, boarding a ship for England with a distant and demanding husband.

Meanwhile, Peggy Scott faced sharp prejudice from Dr. William Kirkland's mother, who once again insulted Peggy's father. Ada hosted a seance seeking closure; however, Agnes intervened and gave her a reality check. Meanwhile, Jack's clock invention finally brought him wealth, but also emotional uncertainty about leaving the Van Rhijn household.

Mr. Borden proposed to Mrs. Bruce, only to learn she is still legally married to a husband long confined in an asylum.

What to expect from The Gilded Age Season 3 Episode 5?

The synopsis of the upcoming episode, A Different World, as per HBO, reads,

"Gladys has trouble adjusting to her changed circumstances…and the controlling Lady Sarah. After a string of personal and professional wins, Larry runs into a familiar face. While at an event with Dr. Kirkland, Peggy gets an opportunity from an old colleague. Later, drama ensues at Mrs. Fish’s Newport luncheon."

New titles, New rules - Gladys is no longer under her mother's strict surveillance. Now in England, she faces Lady Sarah, the sharp-tongued Aunt of the Duke. If Gladys thought Bertha was controlling, she's in for a shock. Meanwhile, in an event, Peggy crosses paths with an old colleague. Could this open a new chapter for Peggy?

In Newport, Mrs. Fish's fancy luncheon is set to go off the rails, making way for more drama, crumbling alliances, and perhaps a scandal.
