The Gilded Age Season 3 sets a new viewership record for the series with 2.7 million viewers

The Gilded Age Season 3 was one of the most anticipated shows of the year, and the excitement has certainly reflected in its viewership numbers. The first episode of the season, which aired on June 22, 2025, has garnered 2.7 million views within three days of its release.

This makes the Season 3 debut the highest-viewed premiere of the show so far. The ratings have been calculated both from the linear HBO channel and streaming views on Max. The historical drama is loved by fans for its stellar performances, antique costumes, and its 1880s setting.

The Gilded Age follows the conflict between the old money Van Rhijn-Brook family and the new money Russell family. The two neighbors clash due to the contrasts in their beliefs and backgrounds.


The Gilded Age Season 3 records the most-watched premiere of the series

As per Warner Bros. Discovery, The Gilded Age Season 3 Episode 1 was watched by 2.7 million viewers across various platforms within the first three days of its release. The live HBO broadcast reached 430,000 viewers, while the rest of the views were accumulated through repeat telecasts, recordings, and the streaming platform Max.

In comparison, the first season’s premiere reached 2 million viewers, and the second season’s first episode was watched by 2.1 million viewers. Hence, Season 3 has seen a 30% and 27% increase in viewership from the first and second seasons, respectively.

The Gilded Age premiered on HBO in January 2022 and aired on Mondays at 9 PM. After a positive response by the audience, the show was shifted to the Sunday 9 PM slot for the second season, which premiered in October 2023. The series has now returned to the screens after a long wait of one and a half years.

In The Gilded Age Season 3 Episode 1, George Russell went west to expand his railway and made some tough deals, while Bertha worked hard to make their daughter, Gladys, a duchess. Meanwhile, Ada Forte inherited a surprise fortune after Reverend Luke died, and she became the new head of the Van Rhijn house.

Meanwhile, there were some tensions between the cousins as Aurora Fane faced the threat of divorce, while sparks flew between Marian and Larry. As the drama continues to unfold, the upcoming episodes of the season are expected to see a further upward trend in ratings, which has also been seen in the previous two seasons.

The new season features eight episodes, which are being released weekly on Sundays, with the finale scheduled on August 10, 2025. The series stars Carrie Coon as Bertha Russell, Morgan Spector as George Russell, Taissa Farmiga as Gladys Russell, Harry Richardson as Larry Russell, and Louisa Jacobson as Marian Brook.

The cast also includes Denée Benton as Peggy Scott, Blake Ritson as Oscar van Rhijn, Simon Jones as Mr. Alfred Bannister, Cynthia Nixon as Ada Forte, Ben Ahlers as John Trotter, Christine Baranski as Agnes van Rhijn, and Jack Gilpin as Mr. Church.
