Cherry, being Cherry, hides this information from Daniel.
When she reaches Spain, she feels nervous around the Sanderson family. As always, Laura pretends to be polite to her but keeps a close watch on her. Things get more awkward when Carolina, a family friend, mentions that she never saw Cherry in business class on the flight.
Cherry also finds out that Brigitte, Daniel’s ex, is staying with them too. This bothers her, especially when she sees how close Brigitte and Daniel still are. While she tries to join the family for their activities, she feels left out and embarrassed. Meanwhile, she plans to sneak back the bracelet that she had taken, but the housemaid ends up seeing her in Laura’s room.

Things change drastically the next day when Cherry falls into the water from a yacht. Seeing that she cannot swim, Laura dives to save her. The two women finally start connecting. Cherry admits that she did not fly business class. Instead of judging her, Laura takes her shopping.
The matriarch also reveals some painful details about her own past. She tells Cherry that after her daughter Rose died, she had an affair with a woman named Lilith. She asks Cherry to keep it a secret, and the two women confide in each other. They also decide not to tell any more lies and seem to form a genuine connection.
The Girlfriend Episode 2 recap: Confrontation between Laura and Cherry
By the end of The Girlfriend Episode 2, the dynamics between the two change again. At a wine-tasting event, Brigitte shows Laura a viral video of a wedding gone wrong, where the cake happened to have an animal heart inside. Laura sees Nicholas in the video and notices that he is the same man who was punched by Cherry.
Realizing that Cherry lied to her again, she goes back to the villa to confront her. There, she sees her swimming in the pool, realizing that she was not actually drowning after falling off the yacht. This makes her feel betrayed.
Laura then tells Cherry to stay away from Daniel. Cherry, however, does not back down and threatens to expose Laura’s affair with Lilith. At this moment, Daniel walks in. However, instead of noticing that they are having an argument, he thinks they are getting along and talking to each other. The episode ends with both women wanting Daniel on their side.
