The Girlfriend Episode 4 recap: Laura hides the truth again

At the start of The Girlfriend Episode 4, Laura goes to Cherry to confess that Daniel is still alive after his fall. However, everything she sees in her and Daniel’s apartment convinces her to stick with her lies. Cherry arrives carrying shopping bags, wearing Daniel’s clothes, and using his card.

When she casually mentions that Daniel proposed to her before the accident, Laura’s jealousy and resentment take over. Instead of telling the truth, she says that Daniel has already had a private family funeral.

Laura takes Daniel’s laptop from the apartment and uses it to investigate Cherry’s personal accounts. She memorizes her passwords, blocks Daniel from Cherry’s social media, and even tampers with her professional profile.

She tries to distract herself by going clubbing, where she meets Brigitte, who judges and humiliates her. Meanwhile, Laura hacks into Cherry’s work account and posts offensive comments about her company and boss. Not only does she get fired from her job, but her name gets tainted in the industry.

She is then left with no choice but to move back in with her mother and help manage her butcher shop. It is also revealed that Cherry has a strained relationship with her bedridden father. After a meeting with him, which reopened her old traumas, she decides to rebuild her life.

On the other hand, Cherry becomes determined to take control of her life after visiting her parents’ home. She arranges a meeting with Max Kader, a wealthy investor recommended earlier by Howard. She pitches her vision for affordable housing, and her sincerity impresses Max.

During the conversation, Cherry mentions Daniel’s death, and Max begins to laugh in surprise. He tells her that Daniel is alive and is, in fact, having lunch in the same restaurant where they are setting. In a shocked state, Cherry goes upstairs and sees her boyfriend alive and well, having lunch with his mother.
